I thought I'd try a X/19 for size in between TR7's just to satisfy my curiosity and I ended up with an early 1.3 exactly the same as this one. It was a fun little car but I missed the TR7 so it had to go.

I think some of the "our stand, or club is better their stand, or club" comments are unnecessary and unproductive. Having said that i have heard a TR Register member saying "our stand is bigger than the TSSC".

I spoke to a man at Stoneleigh who wanted to build an historic rally car and he the said the MK2 Escort and BDA engine route was now very expensive and was looking at putting a JE V8 in a TR7.

The TR7 is cheaper than a lot of cars at the moment and in a recession that makes it an attractive buy.

Roy, Michelle, Tony and Janet - if you have any photos Triumph celebrities on the stand can you get them in to Andrew Poynter for possible inclusion in the next TR Driver. I've sent ours in but yours will probably be better. I managed to miss photographing Gordon Birtwistle altogether.

I liked the TR Register stand and it was jolly handy having the rally car just opposite as that helped draw people over to all our cars.

I have only seen the justified praise for "our stand" not noticed any criticism of other stands or clubs.
I was very proud of our stand and our members and for such a small club the enthusiasm is overwhelming. Makes our jobs as volunteers so rewarding.
Once again thanks to everyone involved in the TRDC effort.
We have started making plans for next year already.

I think some are paid employees within the TR Register. That is not a criticism.

Big is not always the best, so i use to tell the ex- wife [:I] The Register had 3 TR7's on there stand so shows the popularity of our cars, that i doubt would have happened 15 years ago.

Hi John,

I didn't make it because i was in hospital yesterday for my second varicose vein operation [:(] of the year and had things to get done before that.
I was short listed to display on the Register stand, but Mr Rockingham got the spot, which is fair enough.

I had a similar story to yours when i was on show at Stoneleigh. Apparently i spoke to a bloke about my car and then he went off and joined the Register.
Get the technicians on recruitment. [;)]

Glad you had a good weekend displaying your car. [:)]

P.S. Forgot to tell you i got a new job a year ago back at Longbridge preparing the test cars for MG and Shanghi Automotive. Rolling contract work. Good money.
P.P.S. I only joined the Register this year, so will see how good they are towards the TR7 owner now. They need to be.
I am in the Car Park Concours Masters next year, up against a TR4, 5 and 6. Should be interesting.

Hi Phil there was no malice in my quote concerning the Register stand, in my opinion the TRDC stand was better all the way round and also much friendlier. I was at the show with two friends and we are all members of the register and have been for many years but my friend were very impressed with the friendliness of every body on the stand and hopefully they will join the TRDC.
Chris, I forgot all about the print that I ordered and I apologise, hopefully you still have it and I will have to make some other arrangements to collect it.

The thing I love about this forum is that (usually) its not full of boring club politics. [:(]

Sorry you didn't feel welcome on the TR Register stand Moe! Sounds like we'll have to try harder next time than unlimited free tea and biscuits - maybe something stronger next time? [:D]

I spent all 3 days at the show, at my own expense helping the TR Register as an unpaid volunteer with all the others on the stand. Even the paid staff in the club and insurance company don't get paid when they work weekends! They do it for the love and to recruit new members of which we signed up many which is great.

Anyway, great show - lovely chatting to my friends on the TRDC and Club Triumph stands next door and lets forget the "our stand is better than yours" stuff as we're all friends on the same team - preserving the TR Marque!

Peace and love plus other 60's sentiments.... [;)]
