Any more shots (anybody)of my old TR8 Registered TRA 80K?
Please..

I have been waiting to see it after it's lengthy restoration. It looks an odd colour but I'm guessing that this is due to the lights in the hall. What is going on with the front bumper?

It's not my car obviously but why put a US bumper on a UK Rhd Gen TR8, it looks different underneath too, more cooling perhaps??

Hi,

Just got home, what a great weekend [8D] even if the weather was dodgy this morning but turned out nice in the end [8D]. Great to see eveyone [:)] met some new friends too, including a gent who just put the last Grinnal built back on the road and only live 5 mile's from me, a small world!!

Harris Mann signed the inside of my boot lid and proptly most others there, a total gent.

We got a great display area, with a little work !!

Will post pictures tomorrow, including your old car Steve, had a good chat with the new owner.

wow, my cars in 7 pics!!!! [:D] and i'm in a few too........ as for your old car steve, had a quick chat to the guy who had it, must admit the car was a lovely colour in the flesh, apparently the original colour had bled and when he asked about a respray in the original colour he was told it too would probably bleed through within 4 yrs so he was persuaded to have what i think he said was a toyota colour mix, john, john215 was having a longer conversation with him so can prob fill you in better.

must say had a great day there today, met some old and new faces and will say its the best collection of TR7s i have seen to date, and got a few autographs to, harris man a really friendly and unassuming person and a pleasure to chat to. will load some pics once i get round to putting them on pc then photobucket......

great day out and really sad to see it end......

Sorry no pics Steve but I looked at your old car - it really is that colour now, a kind of maroon metallic. And it's got a US bumper on the back too, at least it matches. Minilite style wheels, tan check trim.

If it wasn't one of the UK RHD TR8s I would say it was a very nice restoration. Just my humble opinion.

Great show, great to see everyone & lots of TR7s & 8s, had a good chat with Bill Price & Gordon Burtwhistle (think I have got that right), as well as Mr Mann, autographs from all 3, real gents.

Hi Dave,

No worries mate i only went up the concourse hall to say good bye to the gent with the 'fresh' Grinnal and got into a chat with various people ( you how it is [;)] ) and before i knew it had gone 5 o'clock !! and everyone had gone! So very sorry i missed you ladies and gents going [:I] But hope to see you all very soon.

Steve, not only has the bumpers changed but also has electric PAS, the velour trim's are long gone, they had literaly fell apart!! and as you know literally un available so i guess tartan is the next best in all fairness. The car is only used when the owner is the country but when he is here it gets well used. He is also a visitor here so hopefully can update you further. It really is a great looking car not to mention a very rare one [:)]

Will post the picture's i have tomorrow

What an absolutely fabulous day, it's been a long while since
I've seen such a gathering of TR7s and TR8s. There's not much
I can add except well done to John Clancy for managing to get
Harris Mann, Bill Price and Gordon Burtwhistle to come along
and talk about the cars.

Not sure I liked what's been done to
your old TR8 Steve, in my humble opinion a car such as that should
be left original, but that's just me.

I'm also sorry I missed you John to say goodbye,nothing personal mate.

Pictures of your old car, forgot to mention electric window and a Holley or Edelbrock fitted along with Mallory ignition, brakes are now Hi Spec front and disc conversion on rear ( S+S Prep ? ) -

Thanks for the pix.

Well it is growing on me colourwise but still looks pretty purple in the pix. Doesn't seem to have any decals on it? The interior was history when I had it. The electric windows were already fitted too. I'm sure it's a lovely car and I'm glad it's found a good home and a caring owner. It's his car to do with as he chooses of course.

Personally though I can't see why unique UK TR8 features like uk bumpers/TR8 steering wheel/TR8 decals(?)/original power steering have all gone. These are the things most of us cherish the most! Before I hear "Pot calling Kettle Black" ...Yes I rallified a gen TR8 coupe and I put a sunroof in a Victory so I'll shut up!

Hi Steve,

When i spoke to the gent he was saying he didnt like the decals on the car, a personal thing i guess. IMHO, and its ONLY that, a real TR8 of any kind is too rare to modify and double so with a real uk car, plenty of DHC TR7's still left but as i say only my opion and much like you cant condem anyone who modifies there car [:I]. At the end of the day its a fantastic car and a credit to the owner.

You sum it up very well John. It's his to do with as he sees fit.

Unfortunately, that just looks like a very nice TR7 DHC with a V8 conversion, not a genuine TR8. Each to their own [:)]

Going by decals shown in the pictures:
Are there REALLY that amount of TR8 cars in the whole of EUrope?!?

Personally I doubt it...

Looking around Odd, I was amazed at how many genuine cars there were to be seen.
For me was a brilliant weekend - meetiing Albert Tinsley and learning all about my EFI tank with heater elements. apperently it which was used by Albert himself whilst at Lucas and developing the TR8 EFi system. They were experimenting with the emision controls trying to get low enough figures to be able to sell the TR8 to the USA.
