I'm with Wayne on this one - it is a very good show. It must cost a fortune to put on each year and that is one of the reasons why the TRDC are up for helping out. Dwindling numbers of all Triumphs will mean shows on such a scale will be a thing of the past eventually so we'd better make the best of it whilst they're here. Unless BMW ever get the proposed new TR sports model on sale of course.

I have attended better events in the US and the 2010 Standard-Triumph Marque Day at Prescott will also take a lot of beating but really the TR Register at Malvern is very near the top when it comes to Triumph events in the UK. Mixing up the cars would improve things even further but I expect that would upset many traditional TR owners who would prefer if the TR had have died with the TR6 (or even the TR3B!).

100% agree with John's comments, our numbers are getting smaller, look how many cars that could be repaired get broken on Fleabay [V] ' Once they are gone They have gone ' so get along, enjoy the company of like minded people [8D]

I know not cheap, but whole weekends entertaintment its not bad is it ? Billing is not a huge amount cheaper, cost me Â£30 for two days there with Fri / Sat camping

You only have to look at John's link above to the micro site to see how much is going on that weekend. Whatever your experience of the attitude of some Register members towards the TR7 & 8, full credit is due to the organisers for such a varied & full programme for the weekend.

Only the most blinkered of enthusiasts would fail to see that combined or joint events are the future for such shows. With dwindling numbers of cars on the road, and increased costs to both organisers & attendees, it will become more & more difficult for indiviual clubs to put on events.

Of course we all tend to gravitate towards the cars of the same type as we drive, that is what will be of interest to most of us. But I agree with John, it would be good to mix up the types so that everyone is encouraged to look round the whole event to see what is there.

Larger events are also more likely to attract the traders.

The challenge lies in changing the mindset of some .......

Jim Johnson is organizing a stand for TR Drivers club members, any one who is at Malvern on on Saturday and Sunday look out for us. I hope to give my TR8 its first run for 3 years, it will make a change from the Coke car.

We plan to be attending with Gordon Birtwistle who did just about all the testing for the TR7 and TR8. If anyone has seen the cold weather testing photos from the mid-70s then that's Gordon behind the wheel.

Also hoping to drag the former Triumph stylists along as well. John Ashford, Dave Keepax and Richard Hunt - all had a hand in our favourite wedge.

All these chaps are happy to speak to anyone about their work at the Standard-Triumph Canley headquartes so everyone bombard them with questions if I can bring them along to the stand.
