Hi - have a read of these articles on buying a TR7

http://www.tr-register.co.uk/downloads/ ... Beware.pdf

http://www.triumphtr7.com/documents/tr7 ... yguide.asp

Price wise - it is about right if it needs a new hood which will be approx $400 - $500.

Hi Gene,
Not sure what part of the country you are in,but MbTim on this forum has a good running 1981 TR7 convertible for $1500-check the "For Sale" section of this site or CraigsList Pittsburgh PA. I have personally seen the car,and of course I'm sure he'd be happy to assist (as would any of us) if you had any further questions. Good luck!
Chris

That price would be good if that is all the car needs. But the devil is in the details. My '79 came with about that amount and for an additional couple of hundred and some sweat equity it was a good daily driver. Later I went crazy and rebuilt the whole thing. But that's another story.

If you have mechanical skills many of common problems with these cars can be fixed fairly cheaply. Parts are readily available.

The main thing to avoid is a rusty car. Be sure rust has not been covered with Bondo and paint.
