Loads of rain down here yesterday morning ( Friday ) and blowing a gale. Looking out the window now ( Saturday morning ) very dark sky and certainly no sun [:(]

Hope weather better tomorrow for Retro Show up 'The Pod'

As a side note, got money back from Billing no problem [:D]

LATEST UPDATE, about to leave for work and now pouring with rain, yet again [:(!]

Cheers John

Raining again in the Midlands this morning and all last night. All the fields around here are extremely wet under foot. I hope July improves as I am booked in and looking forward to this.

Just to let you guys know i think this would have been the wetest TRD nat. since records began that if records have been taken....

I woke up to the sight of....... Rain, rain, rain & more rain I have no doubt that it was the right decision to call it off...
Espesially when the guy in the tent across from us was last seen wringing his pillow out.
It would have been no fun tenting it guys.

Also met up with Steve Jakson and his lovley TR7 which as it was the only TR7 inside Billing aquadrome it was car of the show unofficial of course.

Then a little later met up with John & Sue clancy in the unofficial TRDC beer tent (awning) and the four of us had a nice chat and drinks until it was time for the billing ritual for some chish 'n' fips.

I belive John clancy has spoken with a couple more TR owners for meet up at the premier inn car park at entrance to Billing around 10 am hope to see you there....

Yes, a few fellow members have said they are coming along for a meet and a bit of a drive in convoy. 10am is the plan.

It's a lovely day here and as it turns out the national would have gone off okay. The ground is solid and nothing but a few puddles and mushy bits around the entrances to the fields - other than that it's near perfect conditions with no rain to report through the Saturday night. But knowing how fickle people are when there is the possibility of any precipitation we wouldn't have had enough of a turn out to make it worthwhile so cancelling was the right decision.

All,

I beleive the correct decission was made last saturday, the key factor was based on owners wishing to camp on the Puckleduck field.

The Puckleduck field from Gaz's pictures looks passable for harden motorhome or caravan owners who don't mind cleaning of some splashed on mud.

The key thing here is the owner his off the ground level and have facilities like heating in this so called summer?

I beleive the TR Drivers committee, with input from interested parties need to decide firstly if Billing is the correct place for the National weekend or change to a 1 day event.

Hope this helps and again look forward to take two at Malvern on the 10th, 11th & 12th August.

Hi,

I was up ' The Pod ' yesterday, had a really heavy shower mid afternoon and several minor showers all day, the ground up there was totaly water logged and the overnight camp site looked like a swamp and this is approx 10 miles from Billing.

Roll on Malvern, should be a great event [8D]

Cheers John

Yes we were in the same place Chris. We left Billing about midday yesterday for a road run and no rain up to that point. I expect there would have been a shower or two in the afternoon and for that reason it was the correct decision to cancel. Also, a week ago with the ground being waterlogged there was no choice as it wasn't likely a heatwave was coming and as I keep saying, any rain in the offing and people just don't come out to events like this.

But the ground was actually fine for cars and camping and Puddleduck was half full with tents by Saturday evening. There were no problems with getting cars on and off and no mud except around the entrances to the fields. Puddleduck of course doesn't really have this problem as there's a road to it so cars can drive past any sloshy areas and drive onto the field further along.

But as I say, any chance of precipitation and that means people stay at home. We had a great time though and the journey and road run with Geoff Dunkley leading the way (great route Geoff) resulted in about 400 enjoyable miles behind the wheel of the TR7. Wonderful! We'll pick the car up on Friday and then do 300 miles home again. Can't wait.
