Another one cancelled

Postby reychris » 21 Jun 2012 18:29

Having trudged through the mud and rain at the Pageant of Power at Cholmondeley Castle last Saturday I was all geared up for more classic car viewing at Harewood House in Yorkshire on the Sunday only to find it cancelled at the last minute because of the weather.
Oh well, I thought, I'll go to the Houghton Tower show this Sunday instead.
Guess what? yep that too is cancelled due to the rain and waterlogged ground.[:(][:(]
So the TR is confined to its garage for another dismal weekend of rain.

My heart goes out to all the organisers of these events, they must be having a nightmare trying to reschedule it all.

I'm phoning billing today as they cocked up my camping booking ( I've been put on the field with the bike rally!). I'll see if they have any info. The long range weather forecast is just a wild stab in the dark, I usually look out the window when I get up in the morning, it's the only sure way of knowing what the weather is. [:)]

The bad weather predicted is supposed to be coming in from the South-West (i.e. Cornwall) but it hasn't been bad down here. We had some rain yesterday but nothing like it usually is at this time of year. Today is a bit overcast but it's bright and it's dry.

We're staying in the lodge at Billing so we expect to be there regardless. Whatever happens you won't be alone Gaz.

We have been talking to the TR Register about doing something together at Malvern this year so please let me know if you can come along. I want to show off the TR7 and TR8 to the TR Register because it doesn't really get a look in at their nationals mainly because they don't have many nice examples in their club. Joint ventures do seem to be the way of the future for that reason.

Hasn't stop raining here in North Devon for 24 hrs and that on top of last weekends constant heavy rainfall. Did a Vw show at Billing years ago and when we got there there were ducks swimming around on our pitch. 36 degrees c in New York yesterday I noticed.

We will be making a decision tommorrow about the National weekend at Billing. Our organiser will inspect the fields and decide whether it will be on or off. We have been checking conditions for a while and were hoping it would dry out,if it is still covered in water we will have no alternative but to cancel the weekend.

The lady I spoke to today said the field was wet but usable, as long as it doesn't get drenched again all week should be OK. Fingers crossed for the inspection tommorow. The long range <s>forecast</s> guess is for sunny weather next weekend.
