Actually, Abner and Caleb have a working model of one in the machine shed. They haven't turned in on yet because they can't agree what color to paint it.

I called them this morning they are not going to crush them anytime soon. So I will return to the yard in the next week to see what I can pull off them.

I do have another source for parts in the area. This stuff is in a barn. If you are looking for some hard to find parts let me know and I will put a call in.

On the AC system:

The Ranco high pressure cutoff switch is nearly impossible to find. Located near the bank of AC relays (oh-pull those from their sockets-originals are NLS as well), the Ranco looks like a white plastic covered box with 2 electrical wires and also a capillary tube connection to the dryer. It will be mounted on a bracket that comes off the sheet metal with a couple of bolts.

As mentioned I need a trunk lock mechanism and glove compartment lock mechanism. I should be able to get the glove box mechanism from Ron (Orange Rag) as he thinks he has some but doesn't hurt tio have an extra on hand after mine fell apart. PM me as to costs.

As a special favor, since you're going to be back out there, would you mind looking in the trunks of those cars for any lost innocence? I seem to have misplaced mine after the carburetor tuning session last weekend.

Don't forget the side marker lights, They look like original ones without the screws poking through, If they come off & you want to sell a set let me know! [:D]

A Quick search on US E-Bay has turned up 3 lights for £10 each from one seller with Buy it Now - you would just have to ask the cost of postage.
They do turn up New in boxes original Lucas in US too.
The front ones do have the screws as original so even just getting the rear ones & getting a set of after market ones for the front is an option /keep cost down.
The rears do look better & I have them with the flush look / no screws - better the Taiwan repo ones

My understanding is that the smooth faced ones were only fitted to very early cars and that the lights with the screws through the face were fitted to later cars (where necessary) as standard on the production line. supercass

I think that is right. The original red rear lights always had studs built into the lamp body. The early yellow front lights also had the studs, but for some reason the later lights had a screw fitting through the lens.

All the modern repro sets have the screw fitting.

So, if you want the "screwless" look at the front, you need to find marker lamps off an early car. I have got one - anyone want to sell me another?[:)]

I understood that the front (amber) ones always had screw fittings, the early rear (red) had screwless fittings on early models only. Are the ones available now imported repro's or just NOS? These items don't seem to be a typical choice foir the Taiwan repro market, (not that I'm an expert in such matters!)

I am going to get the windshield trim. Does anyone have any tips on removing it? I have not had much luck in the past without bending it.

Tony... still using that line???? [;)]

Best way I found to remove the trim. Smash a hole in corner of the windshield and take a hand saw and saw the windshield all the way around near the trim. Then, use a carpet knife to cut through the sealer behind (inside) of the windshield and moulding on the car. Use gloves and safety glasses, oh and keep your mouth shut!!!!!!!!!! So much easier than trying to remove it from inside of some old nasty stinky car with the windshield intact or semi intact. Oh, then throw the saw away as it will be trashed. If it's non original sealer, I've had good luck siting in the car and putting both feet on the windshield and pushing the whole mess out on the hood. I even had a couple of windshields pop out intact doing it that way.

Could you check and see if the head rest are in good shape. Not dried out bundles of saw dust like material?

LOL Peter, yes I remember you kindly helped me out with one of those early front lights a while back! At that point with your help I actually had a pair but now I can only find one again[:(] I don't know what I have done with the other one, very frustrating as my spares are usually reasonably organised. I was thinking of fitting them to my ACN coupe to replace the pair on the car as I think the "screwless look" is better.

Went back today stripped a few bits. Bad news about all of the lights, cracks in most or very heavily weather. The cars have spent a lot of time exposed to the elements. The blue car is in better shape.

I could not read the vin on the blue one but it was made Nov 76 so that would be a 77 model year? The white one vin number is ACW 09039U.

The owner of the yard said he would put them in the back for the summer. A Stay of execution. Not really too much salvageable on these car's. They sat outside in too many Canadian winters.
