Wedge impersonators

I went to the refuse tip across the road today.
This is the building that used to be TVR.
A few of the lads who used to work for them have set up shop in the old building now sectioned off into units. A classic car restoation and motor enginering firm who fettled my carbs the other year.
There are still a few bits of the fibreglass body shells knocking around at the back of the units

Sad about the TVR factory but there was never really much of a history there so not quite in the same league as the Standard-Triumph factory at Canley.

John, the Reliant SS sports car was actually a re-working of a proposed TR7 update which was possibly a Broadside variant but may have been the Boxer. I can't remember which one right now but it was originally a proposal for one of these two variants from Edgardo Michelotti in Turin that as we all know never made it into production. However, the design work done for Triumph then was utilised in a slightly less stylish fashion for the Reliant car. At the time the TR7 shape was reckoned to have a lot more life left in it and that is why all these other manufacturers wanted to move in on the void left by the cancellation of Britain's last mass produced sports car. And that is probably why they all looked like it too!

I like the headlight treatment - has more connection with the earlier Triumph models (Spitfire/GT6/TR6).

Interesting combination. I have TR7's and my wife has a French Blue GT6 Mk3. Seems like what would happen if they mated!
