well fitted mine today, and its running, and must say it was was an easy fit, and seems to be running ok.though not taken it on the road yet, due to go to car show in shepton mallet tomorrow so may take it with me and risk it but does need a strobe to set up the timing more accurately...... [:D]

So it a case of removing the distributor - - then what parts except from the condenser & points do you have to remove ?
Accuspark mention the weights ?
Can you post up the fitting instructions ?

Mine is running fine & don't want to open a can of worms by removing the distibutor but want to fit electronic ignition - catch 22 !

neil..... i took the dizzy out, two bolts...sounds simple....see how much room you have to undo them and do them up!!!!!

i then removed the points and condenser, knocked out the spring pin and pulled the drive off, slid out the mechanism and fitted the chopper, its a snug fit, then put it all back together and started the car, seemed to be running fine until i tried going to shepton today but ran really rough, hoping its because i didnt have a strobe to set timing up which will look into this week, otherwise mine might be an unrelated problem, will let you know as soon as i know.... must admit didnt have net accessat time of fitting so not sure about the weights bit, will look on the site tonight.....

sounds like a lot to take off the dizzy ! Please keep us posted on how you fix the misfire.

If possible, can you post the fitting instructions to the forum ?

The local agents just said that "there was a problem with the TR7" but that he was getting a modified kit very soon.

Hi Dave, yes, that was my car with the windscreen message ha ha we did have a really good search for your car, really sorry to hear about the running problems, have you checked,as Gaz said, the fuel system for any leaks it don't take much of a leak to cause niggeling problems.
Glad you enjoyed the show though even with the downpours in the afternoon,we managed to get there with the roof down but within minutes of putting the roof up it hammered down [:D]
Cheers

well i,m borrowing a strobe light tomorrow so will check the timing after work to see if its the problem as it says on the accuspark website that timing must be set with a strobe, so if that doesn't cure it will look into fueling issues, know it was overfuelling fri evening and float bowl was dripping but cured that.....and put 40 quids worth of petrol in on way out to shepton so was well cheesed off with it playing up.......

as for the fitting instructions for the electronic ignition kit, the fitting instructions are on the accuspark website so easier to look up there than post it on here, might have copyright issues posting it on here too, and its pretty straightforward...... as for removing the dizzy, no choice with the ac delco one due to the layout with the weights on top just under the rotor arm it is a complete strip down so you can slide the leccy bit on the damn thing.....

Thats one reason I fitted the Aldon Ignitor, no dizzy removal required!

Saabfast-

You are the man to speak to about the Aldon Ignition - from their website it looks like the Lobe sensor just bolts onto the old screwed holes for the points / condenser - is that right ?
It appears due to the construction it is a simple fit then connect the 2 wires up to the Coil ?
Is the wiring connected to the coil or the Ignition barrel live feed when the key is turned ?

It is pretty simple to fit. As you say, screws to the baseplate after removing the points and condenser. Most fiddly part was getting the feelers in to set the gap to 10 thou from the cam lobe. The wires feed through the original hole although I drilled a separate hole in case I needed a quick switch back to points but it has not failed yet (I am a bit of a sceptic). You need to run a supply from the ignition switch (or a connection from upstream of the resistor wire). The other connection is direct to the coil -ve. Tach connection stays.
You need to reset the timing as the sensor module is in a different position to the points. The car started OK and I then timed it with a strobe.
Cheapest supplier a few years back was Retro Rockets in the States. They send from a store in the UK although you have to order through the US website. They are also very helpful with any queries and reply to e-mails by return.
