A tunnel of snow

Postby nick » 08 Apr 2012 14:47

Encountered a bit of snow on my Saturday drive. Had to back out of that road as the clearance underneath became a worry. Those large white mounds on either side of the car are not hills. Those are the actual snow depths remaining after this year's dump.

He lives in the Cascade mountain range, all the rain we get on the West Coast during the winter falls as snow as you gain elevation. It's what makes Whistler such a good ski area and our own Mount Washington have more snow than any other ski resort in the world last year and so it goes on down the line.

Do you have chains, Nick?[8D]

Chains? I don't need no stinking chains.

That photo was shot at Mt Bachelor, Oregon. It's about a 30 min drive from my house. They have recorded 473 inches fallen this year.

And down around the back side is Elk Lake Resort, another 10 minutes or so. I'm anxiously awaiting the plow to clear the road so I can start my evening pint runs which I enjoy at lake side.

When ever I see a photo like that, I remember why I moved to Arizona (from Wyoming).

When friends from up north ask why I moved to Arizona, my response is "you don't have to shovel heat".

That's fantastic scenery. It did get some help with a snow plow didn't it?

I don't reckon even Cobber couldn't get his MG F to disappear backwards into that lot. Back into it, most likely, disappear, most unlikely.

My kids were so disappointed with the complete lack of snow this winter.

I was happy to not hook the plow up to the tractor this year!

Don,
The car, since before I bought it in 2005, has been in Bend. I have been, off and on, in Bend since 1973. But I live in Seattle about half the time.

As I was writing that I wondered if you were the Bend connection.
But, thought you were E. WA
