What looks like rust starting at some of the edges isn't, doesn't look that way with the naked eye. Just the way the Olympus camera picks up the light in low light/flash condition.

Re: the Spider, Seats are redone (not unusual as the stitching goes), steering wheel isn't right (aftermarket), door cards not right), radio doesn't look close (not a good picture), as mentioned the graphics look silver, although red they hol;d their colour well and show up as if they are back lit, being reflective.

Hello Everyone,

May be my brain is thawing like the snow here in Manitoba. But did the seller say the TR8 FHC is the last one ever made. He means the last one at Speke because I had for a short while a 1980 TR8 FHC and my friend had a 1979 TR8 FHC.

The 1979 would likely be TCN150xxx and the 1980 would be TCN160xxx series cars.That is the general rule, but weird out of sequence cars appear and the build dates are not the same identical sequence as the VIN numbers. The TR8 coupe for sale is, I believe TCN160145 which would make it the highest VIN number car produced in the TCN series, but as stated above, other 1980 coupes (TCN160xxx series) had build dates later than 8/79

We all seem to have more questions than answers about these three cars.

It all seems a little bit messy to me.

Going back to the 74 TR7, I do find Tahiti Blue a strange choice of colour for a 1974 pre production car.

This colour I'm sure wasn't used for the federal market launch in 1975. You would of thought British Leyland would of used one of the colours they intended to launch with like French Blue, or Delft Blue rather than Tahiti Blue which was not available until the european launch in 1976 some two years later.

Just a thought but another oddity.

Need to know that Vin/commission number for a proper answer.

That Sprint looks like a conversion job to me without more info. It's got the late expansion tank, which is wrong. And a pretty common for conversions a tubular manifold.

I don't think as much of these cars as I did a couple of days ago, and as for his prices well they are quite frankly, Mental.

regardless of the stories and rather optimistic prices (which could prolly fill a forum thread on their own!) I would have to agreed with John that a hour or two in this shop would posible rival a short trip to heaven............

If I've got an original TR7 Sprint, I wouldn't sell the engine!

I've visited that shop when I was looking for a TR7, about 1999.
At that time he had the TR8 for sale, it's the same car as in this advert.
Don't know about the originality of that car, I remember it has a aftermarket sunroof.

It looks very dark for Tahiti blue. My own rally car is Tahiti blue and lighter than the pictures seem to show this '74 car.

Sounds familiar, last time I dealt with them was in '95 [B)]

As for the TR8, the more I look at it the more I get the idea that I've come across this car before.
Could wel be the same car that was offered to me in the early 90's by a Belgium ex BL-dealer.
Didn't buy it because I needed the money for the restoration of my Sprint.
Asking price was ± ƒ 14.000,- which is just under € 6.500,- in todays money.

Hi Chris
I worked for BL/Rover/BMW at Cowley and Swindon plants as a Toolmaker from '81 to 2000,whilst at Cowley the maxi production ended and a lot of the stock was auctioned off and amongst the them were several TR8s which, we were told, were snapped up by dealers.
When I transfered to the Swindon plant one of the managers had a right hand drive TR8 fhc in one of the many workshop/garages on the site try as I might I was unable to find out who the owner was and I often wondered what happened to the car,I can't remember the reg and I think it was pimento red.
