Bye Bye Stripes ?

Thinking of going back to a more factory look, this is how the car looked on completion before I fitted the stripes and Minilites, think I am preffering the purer look.

Always happy to hear opinions.

I can see the point of removing the stripes, gives a cleaner look.
But I really do like the looks of the wide Minilites on a FHC [8D]

I prefer the after, but at the end of the day it's your car!

Much prefer the look without the stripes and wider wheels. There is much to be said for leaving it as the designer intended and many a car has been spoiled by subsequent attempts to upgrade/improve.

Just my two 'penneth worth.

Ruddy what is that harbour the car is overlooking in the photo?

It & the car look fantastic.

I think it does look better without the strip, but the minilites look very useful, & not out of place.

I don't have a single thing on the 8, like your first picture. I did plan putting the name on, but got to like watching people try to figure out what it was.

Totally prefer it the way it is now, thought those stripes were factory..i.e. supplied by BL.

If you are going to have it as it left the factory you do need to lose that knee-bashing bumper. (I find it a Godsend for standing cappacino cups on while I open the boot.. doesn't work with UK bumpers.. s'pose I should mention my home made cupholders are in the boot.. buy cappacino, drive to beach, drink )

Forgot.. Found a scrapbook with pix of my first TR7 back in 1980.. looks a bit like yours. I'll try and get some pix up later.

I think the black stripes look really good on your colour car. As for mini lites or original alloys, depends on whether you favour original or lightly modified look.

I prefer the one piece rear bumper to the muti piece EU one. Makes it more unique and sets it apart from the maddening crowd of the other faceless rear bumpers.

As an aside I am debating between your car colour and original paint for Yellow TCT. The pimento is pretty close to Ron's (Orange Rag) Topaz whereas the Tumeric Yellow, while unique on a TR7 is similar to the yellow on TR6's and MGB's of which there are a number around. Other than that I really like that colour, especially on a coupe. Fortunately decision time is some way off with house resto, Acura work, Spider work and Getting the Toyota ready for collector plates for 2013.

That would be my home town, Whitehaven on the West coast of Cumbria, once a thriving port with coal and fishing industry but now it is all leisure boats and the industry has sadly gone.

This is the same harbour approx 20 years ago, the TR photo was taken from the far background.

The stripes make the car longer and he seems a bit lower .. I prefer the clean style, and the minilight rims are nice a contemporary, classic look ... but it's your car - nice car

Well it looks just fab as it is but - factory alloys, keep the stripes & the US spec bumpers.

I like the stripes but prefer the factory alloys.
Our blue Sprint has Minilites but will soon be back on its original alloys. Its nice to have a change from time to time.
