Hood/bonnett adjustment

How do I adjust the height the hood is at when it is closed? Up at the windshield, it sits lower on the passenger side than the drivers side.

Randy, is it at the correct height at the front, at the hinge end? The factory had thin shims to go under the hinges to get that fit correct - I just used a couple of thin washers instead.

Is the bonnet central in the aperture - are the shut lines even down both sides?

If it is correct at the front of the bonnet but off at the windshield, then I don't know of any other adjustment. Do you have the rubber piping on the back edge of the engine bay in place OK?

Replace the rubber spacers ZKC3514. That should do it. They are probably both compressed due to time and the hood is slightly twisted because we typically lift it from the drivers side only.

Thanks guys, the hood fits great everywhere except up at the windshield. I think it may be those spacers. They are a little crunchy now so I'll look at replacing them. I wasn't able to see any way to adjust the height there so it must be those spacers.

When I put new rubber strips on that fit against the trailing edge of the bonnet I had to adjust the latch up a bit. The bonnet stands proud a bit but figured the rubber would take a compression set after a bit of time in the heat of the summer. It's been 5 summers now and it hasn't yet. Maybe in another 25.[:p]

As mentioned the hood may have a bit of a twist from being opened a little brusquely over the years from one side but new rubber on the firewall may help straighten it out a bit when latched. When putting new rubber on, the latch will have to be adjusted up to compensate or you may not be able to unlatch it (if it latches) because of the pressure.

Not true, we have one to two weeks of 30+C weather a year (it's not the temperature, it's the humidity.[8D]

Definitely not Phoenix, AZ weather though.[:p]

Winter is at least two feet of snow on the ground that crunches/squeaks when you step on it because it's 20 to 40 below (point at which C=F) and it sparkles like a million diamonds in the yard light at night. Anything else is just one of the other three seasons. Also the reason I moved from Manitoba to the West Coast these many years ago and never looked back.[8D]

The definition of winter is when the snowmobile is parked right beside the TR in the garage! I was in summer denile today so I went for a ride on the sled and then pulled the cover off the TR and started her up. Let it warm up and gave it a few jabs of the throtle which drew the new guy from across the street over for a look and a welcom beer.

Hay Bender, what are those snowmobiles like in mud & slush. Ma be I should get one.

It may be summer, but although no snow, we have had 2 Feet of rain so far this year. I can't get anywhere near my bottom paddock with anything but the ride on mower, [lawn tractor to some], & even that is likely to sink in.

A mate with a big 4WD tractor, with 8 x 6Ft wheels, & a winch front & back is making a killing dragging out peoples tractors & 4WD land cruisers & stuff they thought could get through the mud.

One neighbour is going to have to wait till it gets fully dry, then get an excavator to dig out his D4 dozer, it's so stuck.

Hummm.. well if your going fast enough probably pretty good! I have water skipped over a hundred yards or so. Might tend to overheat just a bit in your neck of the woods though! -15c here right now but I bet it's just a bit warmer for you :)
