I thought exactly the same thing Ron.

It's good that Robsport took the trouble to remanufacture something that won't exactly return a fortune, if anything. A good job Mr. Wood kept a set of originals to use as a pattern.

I made new ones from a sheet of aluminium and no holes but a sleeve for the AC tubes.

The N/A FI cars had a single hole for the intake hose to the air filter to pull in cool air from in front of the radiator. You can see the hose (replaced) in the lower right of this picture.

Hi,

I have never fitted them to my V8, i like the idea of some cold air being able to get in there.

actually no.
The NA spec cars had the same useless (no longer needed) holes as your cars did .....




Both my 78 and 82 had the same cut-out, yet neither had/required the airducts going through them..... though I have always thought it might be a good thing to add, as it would direct cooler outside air into the carbs, instead of simply breathing in the hot air from the engine compartment????

My purchased new 79 tr7 did not have those holes.
