My Car did not come with a radio when I bought it - just the plastic insert tray to fill in the hole.
Found a new boxed radio from 1981 on E-Bay .
It came with 2 plates so you can fit it into the original hole.
You can just see the black plate round the edge on the front of the radio & at the back was a similar steel plate with luggs, to fit at the back of the radio to sandwich the radio onto the plastic hole outer edge of the radio hole.
When you tightened the hex screwed washers on the Volume & Tuning spindles it tightened it all up.The plastic black washers & knobs hide the fixing washers.
The plates were simple sheet metal & easy, if required to make, but have seen them at autojumbles as a pack probably sold in car acc. shops years ago.
It has FM & a cassette player - grabbed my daughters old cassette to I-Pod adapter after she finished with it so can listen to my I Pod through the cars speakers.
I did buy a Radiomobile MW/ LW Radio before that but you absolutely cannot pick up any quality radio stations now a days - so sold that onto a Stag Owner.
