RHD , Triumph Power Steering Rack

Postby Jolyon39 » 28 Sep 2011 03:57

I have been working on a project to build the parts to convert a LHD TR7/TR8 rack to RHD.

A tool maker has told me that the LHD steering head casting I have is good but to be sure we really need to see an original RHD part. Apparently some time a mirror image sounds logical but there will be a difference.

So now I really really want a RHD power steering rack to disassemble and measure

Can anyone help?

I will buy one too if you have one hidden away that you will consider selling.

Jolyon

Have you thought of a PAS rack from another car ie Stag, 2500, SD1 Rover, even an '80's Volvo, they would only require a mounting bracket to help attach it and of course the column links can be welded to match your existing shaft,(and maybe the track rods need shorting if using Jags racks) and being a Kiwi there will be natural ingenuity in the genes [^] Some Hot Rodder's and custom car builders do it[8D]

Jolyon,
it IS just a mirror design. It was the exterior piping that were crossed over to get the correct functionality.
BTDT, got the tee-shirt...
