Come on you lot, lets hear it for Troy.

How long is it since a Triumph, & yes, one just like ours, [almost], competed in a round of the world championship?

Yes it is Rally Australia, & he's in it.

It is probably asking a bit much of an amateur team, with a 30+ year old 2WD sports car to be up front, but it is great it's happening.

Really is fantastic to see one of our(nearly)cars competing in these events.

There used to be another run some years back, think the guy's name was Mark Parsons[?] (I have a couple of Tazzy Targa tapes[8D])

The car is unable to handle my driving capabilities

As you can see from these links it has been a very busy time, especially considering I have been working quite a lot in a town 2 hrs from home and have been away 6 days a week.
Unfortunately the heads and cam were held up in customs and only arrived yesterday from The Wedge Shop.
I am not about to buld an engine and fit it 3 days before a rally as big as this.
The car has been on display 3 days a week for the last couple of weeks. Tomorrow it is on display in the morning in Coffs, then it has to be in woolgoolga at 12 noon for the afternoon. On Sunday(fathers day) it and the van are at a car show for the day and finaly on Monday It is visiting 3 schools for there morning assembly.
Then the fun really begins. Documentation Monday afternoon then Reccy Tuesday, Drivers breifing and Scrutineering Tuesday night. More reccy Wednesday, set up service area 4 pm wednesday. reccy super special stage Wednesday 7:30pm. Spectate Thursday morning, as the WRC stars do media day. 3:30 Thursday present car and team at Rally show.We have 500 tempory tattoos of the Triumph laural and some young lovelys to apply them on the kids, young and old.7:00 pm first car starts the super special at the jetty foreshores. We start the rally at approx 10pm. 2 passes over the super special and then the rally proper starts Friday at 10:30 am for us.
I have done 2 radio interviews in the last week and there have been 3 articals in two local papers, one a back page 1/2 page.Links on the facebook site.
I have one more radio spot tomorrow afternoon.
A special thanks to Odd and Nadge for help with the serpintine belt system. All those parts arrived on time, shame that customs held the heads up.[:(]

I have spoken to Mark Parsons on face book and he has been really helpful with a few tips on the new engine we are building.
Woody from the wedge shop reckons he has easily complied with my original request for 300 hp 10:1 compression and 7000 rpm limit. I cant wait for the rally to be over and have some time to finish the assembly and fit it to the car.
Speaking of Citroen. On of my best mates was working in the service park for the rally this afternoon when one of the doors fell off one of there shipping container. Being a resourceful type Mal offered to go home and get his MIG welder and fix the doors for them. He rang me to tell me and have a laugh, as luck would have it I was driving past when he rang so I dropped in. I gave hime a hand for an hour or so, holding the new hing in place with one finger while he tacked it on, took about 10 seconds.
I love checking out the technical stuff behind the sport. After he finished Olivia insisted that Mal produce an invoice so he could be paid. Mal would give you the shirt off his back in a blizzard,so after some insistence he wrote out an invoice for $50. They wanted to pay $400. Olivia insisted that he would supply an autograhed Citroen jacket to Mal and myself. then with us suitably impressed he insisted that when we arrived for service during the rally, Mal is competing as well, the we come and have lunch at there hospitality suit with the two Sebs, Loeb and Ogier.
Great afternoon and the Rally has not even started yet.[:)]

I had the good fortune to visit Coffs Harbour back in Febuary and meet Troy, Penny and family.. (thanks Forum!) You couldn't wish to meet a nicer family and Jo, Katy and I wish them the best of luck. We wish we could be there with you! I thought the highlight of the trip would be The Great Barrier Reef or Australia Zoo buy you guessed it, it was the ride in the TR as Troy took me sideways through some of the actual stages.. here's a few pics..

All going well. Running just outside the top 10. A few little problems , nothing major. New Tyres fitted for tomorrow. 5 stages left to run. 2 are 30 km long. Should lots of fun. I will update further when i have time

Hay Troy, where are you?

I hope no news is good news.

I saw the report on the WRC first day. With all the wet & mud, & the top blokes crashing out all over the place, it must have been a bit challenging in a powerful rear wheel drive car.

Did your class do that power section at the finish? Those long straights would have been a bit challenging for the machinery, & the crew.

As you can see we made the finish, which was our aim at the start. It has been a huge week and will take a few days to get over. Work as always is now hectic. I will try and find some time on the weekend to edit some in car together and write a report of our adventures. We did do the Power stage the first time thru. It was a Mickey mouse little stage that is designed for TV. We had a huge moment when I mis heard a note and arrived into a right 5 in 4 th gear about 40 km/ h too quick. Luckily there was nothing nasty in the scenery. And we got away with a very quick ride thru the scenery. Over that crest at the finish we saw 152 kph. And it got very light.
