We have it already - and have had so for decades... It's a good thing to have,
so You guys should have it as well! And if <u>we</u> can have this degree of freedom up here in "the Tax Hell on Earth"
it should be possible over there. Just tell your Chancellor to speak to our Minister of Finance how to get it
implemented...

We have every other tax and imposition from the money grabbing EU, why not this one?

In the Netherlands the rolling 25 year tax exemption rule will be frozen on the 31st December this year.
Luckily all Triumphs are tax exempt already [:)]

I use my cars as daily drivers with less than half my miles done with the modern car and I resent paying 3 lots of road tax for one person - the TR7 is the most expensive [:(!].

Personally I prefer the idea of getting rid of road tax completely and putting it on fuel duty. This means no more tax dodgers, no more police time tracking them down, no more need for people at DVLC managing it, fuel effiecnt cars pay less tax as the goverment wants and the gas guzzlers paying more. Would be nice to see some of the money spent on the roads as well.

<font face="Century Gothic"><font color="purple">Complete concurrence! After a fairly barren year last year TRisha's covered around 2.5k miles for business journeys since April, and will do a few more yet.

I believe Cameron (or Govt Spokesman) did commit to reviewing the exemption but said it would not be practical/prudent to do so in the current financial climate.

Let's hope it is seriously reviewed - I have numerous people this year convey their disbelief that I still have to pay car tax on a 34yr old motor.

I run cars 2 classics and 1 modern and since I do most miles on the classics it would be unfair for me just to pay tax on the modern - but it also unfair for me to pay tax on 3 cars as I do now.

So it is seems best to go for tax on petrol as I buy it. Lower miles less tax.

Easy for me as I am an engineer and understand logic, inovation and common sense, I am not a politician or bureaucrat.

signing too and totally agree with pete on the tax scrapping, as they say they want to catch the tax dodgers, well how better than to put it on what they all need fuel, just as long as they dont get greedy and inflate what they add....

I agree with putting the road tax on fuel, much fairer as the more you drive or use fuel the more you pay. Avoids the lump sum of extortion every year too, so I have signed this one:
