I had a great day out on Sunday that I thought I would share with you folks.
I just managed to get a respray and bolt back together done in time (finished Saturday afternoon) ready for Sunday. That`s another story I will add later.
Sadly I was the only 7 there which was a shame, although I was also the only TR there as well that I saw, although there were a number of Heralds, Dolomites and/or Toledos. Many of the cars there are modified, usually in the engine department. One of the Heralds was running a Mazda rotary, which was interesting on the hillclimb until he broke it (rear suspension by the looks of it). There is such a large and varied array of cars, and the atmosphere is always such fun that this is my favourite non 7 show by far, and I have been for the last three years.
We had a run up from Devon with a few others, including my son in his MK1 Fiesta.
Interesting shape comparison with a Porsche 924.
Then at the show itself at Prescott hillclimb, near Cheltenham. The last few are on the hillclimb circuit itself. It`s liberating to be able to give it some beans legally. A bit of tyre smoke and sideways action round the corners is great fun. I had three runs and didn`t break anything or bin it. As I had just had it sprayed, I didn`t go too mad.
Loads more pics of the event can be found on www.retrorides.org. Look for the Gathering 2011 section. If I find a few more of my car on the forum I will add them here. Have a few more random pictures I took on the day.
Anyway, enjoy.
Andy.
