Fitting new doors to a TR7

I have recently changed my old rotten doors for new ones and now need to align them up correct with putting in the correct spacers (shims) on the hinges. I think it may just be a case of trial and error until I get it right, but wondered if anyone know of any tricks to getting the space right and knowing how many spacers were needed?

I did read a post some time ago that said that using a boot seal was good to get the correct space, but have not heard anything on how to get the correct amount of spacers in the door. If anyone knows how to do this, it would of great help to me as I can see this taking quite a bit of time.

No one answered so I will. Haven't done it yet, but might with Yellow
TCT. I would use pieces to space the door. If used all the way around you wouldn't be able to close the doors. Beans, how did you do yours?

No spacers between doors and hinges on my two TR7's.
Both had the door hinges adjusted (big hammer [:D]) to get the door gaps correct.
Only used spacers behind the door catches on the B-post.

p.s. if using the big hammer method do it properly, otherwise you'll ruin your hinges [:p]

That's simple, fit the door without spacer, align properly, measure
gaps at the front and back of the door and calculate the shims you need.

Phil if your going to be buggerising around with doors you should make it easy for yourself n' get a door jack, there was one on Oz ebay recently that didn't sell, it was only $50 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220821762943&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT You could try and contact the seller and see if they would sell it to you.
at only $50 it's a lot cheaper than damaging the paint on the doors!
