Rimmers get their share of negative press on this forum, so I think it's only fair to report on good service. I ordered a set of Spax rear shock absorbers for my TR7 via their Website on 28-Jul-2011, they were despatched the same day, and delivered to my doorstep in rural Queensland, Australia, today, 3-Aug-2011. The all up price of AU$280 was well short of that quoted by local suppliers, and I think the freight charge of 50 pounds (included in the total) quite reasonable to transport a package to the other side of the world in 6 days.

Yes I have to agree, it seems that someone gets a not so good reception from a business and they poison it by saying slanderous things about them. I hear so many bad things about this company and that company, but it can go both ways, not always is the customer right.
I have dealt with the firm in question and found them ever so helpful and the speed of the delivery second to none, they treat me like a regular customer even though I hardly ever use them. A few other suppliers I have dealt with for my Triumphs must cringe when I phone them up, because I am so tight (some of you know that from my Var repairs) and don't like to pay their prices, but they are always happy to try and help me, even after I turn around and ask for discount [:D].

I took advantage of their "up to 70% off" winter sale two years ago on parts for Yellow TCT. Paid $160 for a large heavy box that took two men to lift off truck. I was happy with transaction.

By comparison I paid $167 for a much smaller, lighter box of Spitfire parts from VB and was quoted almost that much for a clutch kit from VB. While shipping within US is cheap, here in Canada we can often order parts from UK for same or less than from States.

I use them as well with very good service. From day of order to delivery on the west coast of the US takes about 8 or 9 days. We get bitten some by the exchange rate but their delivery charge is very reasonable. I use them about equally with VB. If I have to complain, the only thing I don't like is Rimmer does not provide a way to track the shipment. It's a small thing but can feel big when you are trying to schedule your job.

I think tracking depends on the Shipping Company. My order was shipped via UPS Express who provided comprehensive Web Tracking.

Your probably right. I'm not sure how my parcel get to the US. I've only used Rimmer for small stuff and it may come via UK post since it ends up in my mail box.

Never had a problem with them.. their parts are reasonable especially with the sales and shipping has been extremely fast and affordable to my address in the eastern US.

I use Robsport in the UK because they are just so good on service and freight, they will even buy off Rimmers for you and ship it all together. R always recommend robsport to other TR people.

Rimmers have great stock, great catalogues but for us way down here their attitude to freight and the cost of it has been less than favourable to me....... saying that, the current exchange rate is better than any time in the last 30 years so their freight at present may look ok.

I have only had one bad experience with Rimmers, one to many for me! Looking at the post's so far they look after there oversea's customer very well.

Personaly use Robsport as only 30 miles away so can pop up there for a brew and chat. If i lived up 't north' would use S&S more as nothing to choose between these excellent compamy's. Just prefer talking to someone who know our cars inside and out, plus normaly cheaper than Rimmers. Heard from a lot of people saying that both Robsport and S&S Prep will not sell you something you dont need, giving free advice on what you do need.

Credit where credit is due, Rimmers do a excellent catalogue [:)]

A group of us called into Rimmers on Monday on our way back down to Essex from the Harrogate weekend, somehow we just happened to come accross them[:D]
We only popped in as one of our group just wanted a couple of clips.

Having made our huge purchase we were offered a tour round "the works" - Wow what a set up! The main building is a WW2 aircraft hangar which is now fully fitted out over three levels with a fully computer controlled stock system and more stock than you can shake a stick at. With all of the other areas this is a really impressive set up which by all accounts will be with us for the long term - we were told of a massive extension to the building which should just about double the stock area.
If you ever get the chance do the tour.

Having said all of that, I like John generally use Rob and Simon for parts, but I am a real sucker for the Rimmers "Special Offers"! Just bought a spare NOS header tank bracket for the 8 for a whole £2.00.

Robsport or S&S Preperations for me and i live only 30 miles from Rimmer Bros,

When i was having all the problems with my sprint transplant i never had a catalogue handy so resorted to the expert knowledge to order the 2 gaskets and the oil seal for the timing cover, no problem i thought they quickly told me the part numbers, confirmed they were in stock and had them to me the next day.[:D]

When they arrived i decided to crack on and get it sorted only to find the gaskets were for the Stag and not the Sprint [:(!], i phoned them straight away to let them no and they appologised and sent the correct ones next day delivery [:)].

When they arrived the checky sods had only charged me again for what was there mistake, so i was on the phone once again they said i would have to return the originals (which they sent me in error) at my expense to get a refund for the gaskets.[:(!]

Will never use the again i don't care how desperate i was.[V]

Not having the luxury of living within 3000 miles of suppliers like you guys in the UK I always do mail order. I have bought from Robsport and S&S. They give good service but I find Rimmers more efficient. Their website is the best, what with the exploded diagrams, real part numbers, availability status (this one is really important to me!) and up to date pricing. Parts arrive individually poly-bagged, labelled, very well packed, and I have never had an incorrect item. The real deal maker for me is that if I spring for UPS I receive my order 2 days after placing it online. And I live on the Pacific Coast of Canada. I can't get TR parts from anywhere in North America that quickly. Even by Royal Mail I usually get the parts within a week.
Now that I also have the MGF I find that Rimmers is even more important to me as I seem to be restoring that car piece by piece too![B)]

I do agree the website is excellent,

I also have to agree with John215 that they appear to look after the overseas customers better, maybe the should move to the USA or Oz then us back in blighty might get a better service from them.[;)]
