Sanity Cruise

I took a little hour and 40 minute drive up into the foothills near Mount St Helens today. We are having our second 80 day of the year and doing my homework was making my head hurt. You can kind of see the mountain in these two photos. My phone doesn't take the best pictures. Anyway,,, the car is running fantastically and I'm feeling much better now. [:D] Back to the books,, darn it.

Looks good Jim, both the car and mountain. I'm down in Bend OR and we had a nice one yesterday but I just went to Baxter's to pick up some NGK plugs and the sky spit on me. Might have to put the top up this week.

I often do something similar Jim. I drive to a little town 25 Km away, have a coffee, then go well out of my way to drive up one side of a mountain, & down the other on the way home.

Nothing like a top down drive in some clear mountain air to refresh the soul. Isn't it nice when the little car sings for you?

Too hot too early here in Georgia....It's been in the mid 90's (F) for over 10 days[B)]....usual high temp for this time of year is 80 to 85F.

Glad for you....a quick trip in the 7 is always good for the soul and to clear the head [8D].

We had the same weather Jim but my time was spent in the garage putting the final touches on my brackets for the BMW wind blocker. Have to get it ready for my trip 4,800 Km. to San Diego as we're leaving Saturday morning on the COHO ferry. Many things to do before then as I'll be away for 18 days. I'll be taking my computer so stay tuned for posts on ROAD TRIP!

Wow Merv, I wish I could go with you. It sounds like a blast. After my first post on this topic I got back to my homework. It went much more smoothly than it did before my little drive. I forgot sunscreen, I didn't think that less than two hours out would be much of a problem. I'm paying for it now, a little. My face and arms are fairly red and feel a bit hot. It was well worth it though.

I gave my youngest daughter the Peugeot 306 convertible I bought a little while back, I would have given her anything to get her out of the horrible little occasional 4WD she was driving.

She & a couple of girlfriends went for a drive to the north coast beaches, a bit over 2 hours each way, top down.

One of them got quite sun burnt. When asked why she didn't cover up or use sunscreen she said that they weren't lying on the beach, & she didn't think she would get burnt while moving.

I wonder what they teach them at school these days.

She probably thinks that you can't get burned on a cloudy day too.[8D]

You're certainly welcome to come along although it sounds like you have busy plans. We could use a TR8. We have my spider, a Green TR7 (former club chairman), a Dolomite Sprint from Switzerland, one of two in Canada (former club chairman and current technical co-ordinator), a TR6 (former club chairman), a TR4a from UK, they usually go to south of France but now that they've immigrated to Canada this will be the first time they've been to a foreign country where they speak English. Fortunately "West Coast" is all the same dialect so they will be able to understand.[:p]

And the inevitable MGB (former events co-ordinator).

How many Triumph's does it take to accompany an MGB on a long road trip?
Five.
One to carry the tools.
One to carry the mechanic.
One to go up the road a km. to worn oncoming traffic of a brake down.
One to go back 1 km. to worn of a break down up ahead.
One to go to the US Post Office to pick up the MG part that was shipped Priority Post.[:o)]

Not nice FI! My MGB (63), which is pushing 50 years of age now, is extremely reliable. In 40 years of MG ownership the biggest issues I've had have been Lucas electricals. Our TR7s share the same parts. I think if we just maintain these LBCs they can work very well.

I keep my MGB and TR7 in different garages so they don't fight but we're all adults here - right? [:D]

No problem to keep in the same garage, Triumph at the front MG to rear - simples [:D]
