yeah think we can manage that zoe, been trying to get mine running, starts on choke, revs like billiou then just dies, wont idle or anything, think carbs need balancing or something, am working on it..... been banned from buying the paint as way into our overdraft apparently..... but am sure there was a stall selling paint cheap last year so may well have a memory lapse when there.....[:D]

I got there very early last year and was able to park in the supermarket car park [:)]. Just get there as early as you can and you will have no problem parking.

Which supermarket do you use, I will be coming from Gloucester on the A4136, prob looking at car park A on the map. Plan to go home through the forest of Dean and over the old severn bridge.

Could it be an air leak? do you have K&Ns and sealed the connection from the manifold to the old airtemp sensor?

k and ns were on the car when i got it, but the rubber mounts had split, when i took the old ones off there were NO gaskets fitted!!!! so refitted them with gaskets and also have cleaned the dashpots and pistons as one was sticking and now it starts on full choke, revs really high but will then just die, am hoping due to lack of gaskets originally the mixture was set really rich and just needs resetting to run properly.

its just finding the time to do it, ie dont finish work til 8pm tonight......... lousy retail work....lol

did you make coleford? was good day, didnt see lloyd, just heard him leaving.........lol

[:D] [}:)] [}:)] Glad you heard me Dave [}:)] [}:)] [:D].

The stewards made me park around the back of the supermarket out of the way this year [:(].
Walked past the TRs twice and hung around for a bit, but didn't see you about [:(].
Got bored so I jumped in the Beast and went for a blast [^].

I take it that was at the back of the co op, in that case I think I heard you leaving.

I stopped at one of the out of town carparks and got the bus in, they ran every 30 minutes, the bus was an old route master. Impressed with the range and number of cars, not enough TR7's though. Travelled in from the Gloucester direction - great drive, little traffic and great road.

Left at 2.00 and came home via Monmouth and Chepstow, bit tedious stuck behind a car that thought 40mph was quite fast enough, he eventually turned off. Then across the first severn bridge and up the M5 to home.

Nervous, applying the choke in an SU is actually lowering the main jet, in it's tube.

This is what you do when you richen the mixture, by winding the mixture adjustment nut down.

So, if it will run with the choke out, it will run with the mixture adjusted richer.

Wind the mixture nuts right up tight, [lean], then wind them down 12 flats each, [2 full turns], this is the standard starting point for tuning.

If it still wont run, without choke, after warming up with some choke, just keep winding the mixture nuts down each the same number of turns, until it will run.

Check for equal suction, just with a hose in your ear, you are only tuning idle suction when you adjust this, & it doesn't matter very much.

When you get it running, without stalling, remove the dash pots, & check how far down each jet is. If one is much lower than the other, the inlet tract, with the low jet, is probably sucking air somewhere.

Stop being frightened of SUs, they are simple things, designed for us simple people.
