Trim rail re & re

Getting the wedge painted soon. It'll be a better job if I remove the trim rail at the top of the rocker panel. Has anyone any experience with removing and replacing these? Looks like a chore. I imagine the refit involves sliding the new on on from the back. Were the mounting clips temporarily removed as well?

Beans, its the moulding on the sill I think, not a difficult job, buy a new bag of clips as most will be brittle, after paintwork fit new clips and the trim simply snaps back into place, it doesnt slide on just put it into place and tap it on.

My new clips don't even look like they would work on the original sill piece

Thanks for all the input guys, I will try just snapping the rail into place - less chance of scratching the new paint that way.
