Is it my imagination or are is the new post traffic on the forums dropping? Lately it's only two or three new posts a day. Of course it is true that most everything under the sun has been discussed about TR7/8s so a search will yield nearly all the information that is available.

Hi Nick,

Other than today the weather over in the UK has not been fantastic, in my opinion the forum gets a lot busier during the summer months when the 7's are all on the road.[:)]

I was thinking the same thing latly. Seems like trafic has dropped off a bit. Maybe it's because people are pulling the covers off and getting things ready for summer. At least in parts of the world tahat have a winter.

I did start the 7 today but I also just got back from an impromptu high speed run across the bay and back (about a 1/2mile each way) on the snowmobile!! a few patches of water and a bit of slush here and there but mostly granulated white ice. The kind of stuff you do NOT want to stop on but running at 100 I had no intention of stopping!

I've been thinking the same thing as well. I assumed it is because of the arrival of spring (in northern hemisphere). Weather's just starting to turn with it struggling to get into teen's (C) and everyone is busy getting TR's ready for summer, readying the garden for planting, cleaning up the yards, etc. Myself got the rear suspension out of Acura to replace RTA bushings (Honda weak point), got the rear suspension out of the Spider (replacing hard black poly on axle to softer blue/yellow poly). Insurance on Tercel runs out tomorrow so I'm stranded until I get my Spider on the road (to get Acura bushings on Monday) and so I can get new muffler welded in. Then get bushings tapped into RTA's on Acura.

Tercel's oil and filter changed today, filled the gas tank and added fuel stabilizer and put away for the summer (don't need four wheel drive then). Busy, busy, busy, like every one else I suspect.

And I've started on my next project ...

But as you can see the car is still in pretty good condition. So for the time being most time will be spent researching parts and all sorts of solutions (like engine rebuild, suspension modifcations, roll cage and adding lightness ... and a new paint scheme of course)
As a result I only hop over here when I have a few idle minutes [;)]
And then I was never a great producer of threads [:D]

Hi,

The number of posts do appear to up and down but for a one model forum i dont think we do to bad. If you look at other Triumph base forum there TR7 / 8 sections are a lot quiter
Its up to all of us how many posts appear!

I don't know if I can agree with you on that "not a great post generator" Beans. Just one thread alone, with 44 pages is not a bad effort.

I agree john, not only are we very active, by comparison, the knowledge & help dispensed here is as good as I've seen anywhere.

As was said earlier a lot of the 7's in the UK may not have it the roads properly yet, so there are no problems etc to report.

Give it another month or two and the posts will without doubt come flooding in, i'm aiming for mine to be back on the road for the end of April, and since its transplant havn't even heard the engine running yet.[:0]

i would say that if you look at other Triumph forums and i belong to the registers, dolomite and club triumph this one in comparrison is buzzing, and they cover more than one model [:D]

It does seem quiet ATM, think it will pick up for the summer.

So to provide some interest I am trying to get the TR ready fo the Summer, Spitfire tax runs out end of March so must get the TR ready for 1st April.

Over the last month I have replaced the gearbox mount in an attempt to solve the high speed vibration problem, this may actually be a problem with the front diff bearing.

Today I tackled the rear bumper mounting, 2 studs have sheared, looks like I will have to live with that but at least the rear bumper will align properly now. I also started on dealing with the cracking paint at the lower wing to sill join. I decided to smooth the joint because of repairs but a crack in the filler has happened, on the drivers side this is due to the repair I did and not connecting it to the sill, the nearside is due to the wheel arch repair I did but must correct. Hopfully with some extra welding I can solve these problems.

I have broken one of the rear lamps by over tightening so will have to repair that now.

The main job to get the carf ready for the summer is to flat back and polish the paint. Tax on the Spitfire runs out the end of march and hopefully it will reach 200k then and then I want to run the TR until the end of November.

I still want to clean and repaint the under side making use of the pit I now have access to. Later there is the brake and exhaust upgrades to do but the main thing will be to use the car for the summer.
