Poor quality clutch line, BEWARE!

I know I did the clutch cylinder job 2 months ago but I just now got around to taking it out for a spin. Stepped on the pedal and went to put it in gear and it wouldn't go. Had another go at bleeding the system...still no good. Tried bleeding again with a few extra pumps of the pedal each time and I noticed the new clutch hose was expanding and contracting with each stroke. The hose was so soft it wouldn't allow enough pressure to activate the clutch. Before long I could also hear a small hiss and had some dripping fluid. Darn hose got a pinhole leak from bleeding. Put the old hose in, bled the system and no problem.

Go with TSI or The Wedge Shop steel braided lines.

Been there...done that...three years ago. Switched to braided line. Missed Van Dusen that year in the process while I figured it out.
I had the slave clamped up by the master and as my wife pumped the clutch pedal I found the line expanding. I guess you weren't around when it was discussed on the forum.

When I installed mine t just didn't seem to fit correctly, or should I say to my satisfaction. I was much happier with it when I installed it with this on the master side.

When you mention fit DNK, are you referring to the length,and placement .....honestly it's something I don't really like about the way my braided hose fits...it's like it's at least a good 5cm too short ???
(but after the time it took to get the new master,slave bleed and working properly ...mine gonna stay like that for a while longer I THINK [B)][B)]....)

Interesting about what you guys are saying about the braided hose being too short. Mine was just long enough. The different angle on the hard line made the routing a little different. Seems like they should have charged a buck more and added a little length. Can't recall off hand if I got it from VB or UK.

Silver seven, that's exactly what I was referring to.
With the banjo connection it fit a lot better.

I got my braided clutch line from VB as part of a kit that included the Master and slave cylinders and the clutch line. It just runs from the hard line on the firewall to the hard line on the bell housing. I haven't had any problems with any of the three parts included in the kit. Maybe I got lucky?

I heard the horror stories about replacement rubber clutch lines, so I went with the braided SS clutch & brake lines from TSI... Installed with no problems.

Yeah I would not have gotten the plastic line. When I ordered the full kit from VB I thought it was going to include the braided one like Jims did.
