What's the best way for a retrim?

Does anyone know how much a retrim costs? I've got a Grnnall with a 2+2 conversion and tan check trim, nibbled by mice. I could have a go using two new tan seat covers and replace a bit on the 2+2 bench where the mice have had a go at it. Or I'm tempted to get the lot retrimmed in a different colour altogether (originality not that important in a Grinnall!), including the door trims.

Any suggestions?

I don't know about that. Wasn't each Grinnall kind of a one off with sometimes input from the customer? You could have something similar with the word Grinnall embossed?

Yes - mine kept the trim basically original, but then had the 2+2 completed to match: I think the tartan material was still availible back then. I think you're right: now's the time to change it.

I think this is actually my car: it looks exactly the same and my car was converted at the time this brochure was produced.

If you are looking for some material, to just repair the back seat, I have some available but would need to know the size etc.

any chance you could post up some good pics of the interior shell, since she's all stripped out???

I'd love to see some good shots of the modifications performed to the rear floor and bulkhead, as this is a pipe dream of mine to convert my car [;)][;)][;)]

Thanks Jim: I think I've got enough as if I retrim the front seats I'm planning to use the tartan of the old covers. If this doesn't go to plan, I'll let you know.

Ron - when I strip out the back bit, I'll post some pictures up. Looks like a lot of work to convert though and only good for small kids!

Do you think I should stick with the tan tartan?

I guess you're either a fan of plaid or you're not. I fall on the not side, then ('70's) as well as now. Lucky for me both the Spider and Yellow TCT has plain door cards and seats.[;)]

complete opposite of my western Canadian friend ...... [;)]

I totally dig the tartan in any colour, and think it completely suits the car, honestly I much prefer it over the plain solid material.

Now that being said ... if you really have the urge to modify or update the interior .... how about re trimming the stock seats with material from a 2010 Volks GTI ????
