Magnecor Leads

Is it worth going the magnecor lead route
on a sprint engine, if so where is the cheapest
place to buy.

I first bought reproduction [Sprint] OEM leads from Rimmers and then replaced them [with] Magnecor for two reasons:

1. The Rimmers leads were, from memory, 8 mm which meant the dissy cap holes had to be drilled out to accept the ends - I did not want to do this.

2. The reproduction OEM rubber fittings that go down the spark plug tubes were not good quality and did not seal the tube well, which allows water into No 4 tube as it is exposed by the bonnet vent.

IMHO, the quality of the Magnecor leads is fantastic in every respect.

Got mine (for the 8v) from Revington.
I got the ones for the Sprint from BCCP.

Personally I wish MSD made em for our motor. I installed a new Magnecore set last year and had 1 boot come off the spark plug side and another start to.
little disappointed. I need to do a resistance test on them to see if my fix is OK.

That would a disappointment.

My experience is only with their units for Sprint engines.

Perhaps they are not the best option for 8V and V8 engines.

Actually someone else I talk with who bought a car from one of the past members here said Magnecore has had problems as of late.

I have a set of Magnecore leads on my Sprint since april 2003.
Haven't had problems with them so far.

The set on the 8V DHC is only in use since June lst year ...

I would concur, great quality leads and with just a wiping over with WD40 look brand new after 2 years. When I wanted to upgrade my dizzy to a Mallory Unalite I sent my leads back to Magnecor and they modified them to have HEI ends on them at very little expense. Definately well worth the investment.

Any high quality high tension leads will make a difference over 4,000 rpm. As such, a good idea for Sprint engine, not so much for 8v engine where it would be more for show than go.
