Huge Mistake

I bought another TR7 on EBay. I needed a parts car for my project and couldn't resist this car for a few hundred. I bought it without seeing it. Drove to Wisconsin (I had business there anyway), and loaded it up without really looking at it and hauled it home on my trailer.

I could see from the EBay pics that it had pretty much everything I needed for parts so condition didn't really matter.

So, today in the daylight, I unloaded it into my garage.

This car is nearly perfect! The Body is solid and straight, I can't find any significant rust. It's not a runner, but I didn't care about the engine. But I think it's only an electrical issue.

How can I strip a perfectly good wedge? What do I do now? I have a great looking car and I would feel like a barbarian to destroy it for parts. Yet, I wasn't looking to do another.

My wife says we could have "his" and "her" cars! I never really liked these wedges anyway.... but this is my fourth and there's no end in site.... and I still need a parts car.

I was "eye-balling" that one too, but realistically, I don't even have room for the one I have!

Hey, that's a 30 Anniversary car that still has the chrome rings on the wheels intact! I wish I had my original wheels back for mine!

I wish I could make mistakes like that !!!

You get the best deals when you're not really looking. (Ask me how I know)[:p]

One is definitely not enough. Wish my wife would say she'd take the second one but her arthritis wouldn't handle the non power steering and only drives automatic. Guess I'll have to keep looking for TR8 with auto.[:(]

so fix it, put a set of stock hub caps on, & put your wife in it![:p] tell her how good it looks with her in it[:X] permission granted to keep it- don't part that one out!!![:0]

Sounds like a great problem to have! [:D][:D]

At the very least you could put the minimum in it to get it running and sell it. Probably make enough to pay for the next parts car.

So I got under it today with a light. Most of the bottom of the car looks good. some surface rust, but no holes, no rot, and no flakes. EXCEPT around the rear axle. The pictures below tell the story.
Still think I should save it?
Feeling more like a parts car again.
By the way - It has a freshly rebuilt engine that has no miles yet.

In Oz that would be considered as a totally stuffed car, parts only.

In the UK I believe that would be considered as a very good car, in excellent condition, requiring only minor body work repairs.

I'm from Oz, so I agree, too much work to save, still, the parts should be pretty good..

Parts car. A 4spd coupe, here in the US, is worth about as much as pocket lint. That one has terminal rust issues.
My advise...stay away from ebay for a bit[;)]
