No, Ruby has turned out to be a major disappointment[V]
I was hoping to be able to spend a lot of my previous experience with Var and use it again, and as it turned out the only bad rust is the O/S outer sill[:0] I have a spare cover sill in the shed[:)]
I wont be starting work on Ruby for a while as other commitments are taking priority.
Roll on the warmer weather[8D]

I thought I would bring you up to date on the garage extension, as it has been very quite since the last posting, but the good news is that the door has finally arrived and was going to be fitted Christmas Eve[:)] Guess what, this nearly happened, the builders turned up but couldn't find the bits to attach the door to the wall[:(] to make it worse the door supplier was already on holiday so the builders drove off into the proverbial sunset...Well almost[:0]
Forward on 2 and a half weeks, the builders arrive back and up goes the door with the necessary bits and all is well[:D]
Unfortunately, I can not load any pictures because the photo bucket people have decided to make thing simpler, and taken away the easy to load operation[:(!] Looks like a job for my Son when he visits again.
However things didn't all go to plan after the door was installed[V] When it was time to close the door fully, I think I must have got too excited with all the different buttons to push on the remote control, the door didn't stop automatically, the motor kept turning the roller, things started to twist up until it finally snapped off all the hinges on the certain[:0]
Eventually when I finally realised what was going on I pulled the plug from the socket to cut the power[:(] Faulty operation or faulty operator[?][?][?][?]
I am starting the think I am not supposed to have a door on the garage, can't even show you a picture[V]
It doesn't get any better either, the door supplier is not certain if the manufactor can supply replacement hinges separately[:0]
Hopefully I will know by the weekend.
At least Ruby is drying out beautifully tacked away in the back of the garage[:D]
The glover box door was locked so I haven't been able to look inside, a few weeks ago my Son decided to get a bunch of keys to see if he could unlock it, 11 keys later and of course the last key to try and it was locked and opened...Great[^] What did he find[?][?][?] Nothing, yep a big fat nothing[V] That is until today when I was putting in some electrical sockets, I moved the car so I could gain access to the wall and while doing this I decided to sit in the passenger seat of the TR7 (first time I have ever sat in Ruby) what a pleasant surprise it was, she was very comfortable in deed, plus the passenger seat looks like it has hardly been sat in[;)] While sitting there thinking how nice it would be to travel long distances in this seat I looked inside the glove box and pulled out a key, and of course me being of a very curious nature placed it into the glove box lock...It works, somebody lock the glove box and then put the key inside and closed the door[:o)] I guess it was safe.
Till next time[8D]
Pete

Sounds like a faulty door opener. Too many buttons? Mine only has one. It opens it if it's closed and closes it if it's open.

The garage door should have been adjusted by the installer to stop when it's closed. As a safety feature it should reverse when a certain adjustable pressure is exerted like when it hits something is in the way like a box or worse yet a kid.

Optionally it may have a light beam that reverses it when it's broken.

Don't forget we are talking about GB. Do they have the same codes?
Now I agree it was probably set wrong, but don't know if they have those lights

How about faulty instalation. Sounds like your builders did not set/adjust the door to stop on full closure. Doors should also stop and re-open if met with resistance before full closure.

Yep I am afraid the 3 of us agree, we were too keen to try the door to see if it worked and of course no one read the instructions[V] As we do.
There are 4 bottoms on each of the remotes, labelled 1,2,3 and 4,(still to read about this) plus there is an electronic eye that needs to be in place, not to mention the fine adjustment before fixing the curtain to the motor roller.. oops[:D]
Any body want me to install their garage door[}:)][:D]
