.. [:D] So, if someone the bumpers "faithfully original" is making in carbon fiber (not tons) would be like to buy some, front like US-Model and rear like Europe Model

but please, no spoilers of the TR7 is up to 35 years old

If someone is making original bumpers in carbon fibre (not heavey) The front one like the US version and the rear one like the UK version, I would like to buy a pair.

Not sure about the second part about the spoilers but here goes.

But not interested in spoilers as the TR7 is 35 years old and modern spoilers just don't work.

How did I do?[:p]

It pays to be trilingual as we are here in Canada, (English, French and American).[:D]

hey frank,
they will be similar yet much more recessed. it will be unbelievably lighter. "strictly for track use bumper." there will be no safety to these bumpers. a hood i make usually weighs 12-15lbs.
yes, i understand its an old car and putting a front spoiler from a modern car might not look so good.

i do plan on making a front spoiler, but im really taking my time to find the right look thats not to modern, thants why im here, im not after a jap car look.you need to email me frank so i can keep track.
quote:

Why not just use the original steel and make a recessed original-look cover to go over it? This would retain the safety aspect.
The rubber US bumper projects at least 2" past the steel. If you make the fiberglass flush to the steel you already save 2". If you want to tuck the bumper further, a little cutting and welding of the steel can probably recess it another 1".

Anyone looking to race the car probably isn't very concerned about changing the looks. Besides Honeybourne Mouldings already makes a full fiberglass bumber for the weight conscious racers.

Personally I don't want my car to look like something else. I love it because it is a TR7. I do agree that the front bumper should be recessed a bit though. That combined with the TR7 rally spoiler (as seen on Bean's car) would look great. (in my opinion)

I'm going to alter my extra bumper over the winter and if it turns out well (doesn't end up in the trash) maybe I can have you make a mold from it. Your already set up to do it and it would save me from buying a bunch of materials I'll never use again. I'm in PA so if it turns out OK I know we can make this happen.

hey craig,

i pretty much want about an 1.5' of it it coming out from the front, which means the bumper is in the way totally. i only have room for a small square stock steel to go across. that bumper is so damn heavy. i just want the person to unbolt there old bumper put a small square stock steel and bolt the cover on. most people arent going to want to cut and weld steel.
im next door in ohio. ill copy yours and make it an option if someone wants to retain there 50lb bumper. i would like to have mine made in the next few weeks. if i knew for sure that i had 2 pairs sold i can do it in a week. its hard to sell something without even a picture. so im going to make the plug "prototype" and show everyone.

hey craig,
bourn does have nice stuff. they are selling them about 70.00 a bumper not bad plus overseas shipping. i can be a little more competative to save the frugal builder some money. plus im here in the states. there is always room for one more builder. i starting to sound like a saleman. i need to go back in my shop.

Yeah thats $110 US dollars and shipping is $319! Shipping price is a big deal breaker for me!
Can't wait to see what you come up with. Definately interested.

Tasteful 'bumpers' for the USA...an idea whose time has come. I mean, we don't really love that rubber, do we? And the weight! Count me in...but pic is 1000 words. Good luck. Thanks for email.
If your shop is in Cleveland, I'm in Pittsburgh, a stones throw away.
