Are you going to put another steel in and remove the pillar from middle?

Are you kidding me[:0] I know the builders are using this right now, but what will I use to bang my head against when I start work on the 7[:D]
The plan is to substitute it at a later date[8D]

OK, so you've got doubled up 2x6 beams for the slope of your new roof, but it looks like you just have single 2x4's for the top of the roof. What happens if you get a solid dump of wet snow and all that weight is sitting there?? I'd hate to see it collapsed onto your "daily drivers".... [:(!]

On this side of the pond they would require a minimum of 2x12's on 24" centres for the roof, 18" centres if you plan on putting a deck on the roof so you can watch your neighbours. [8D]

What will happen? Not much. Here the trusses including ridge line are 2x4's on 2' where we can have heavy wet snow falling from 50 feet up as it melts off the evergreens. (big trees). True it may only happen one or twice a year, make a heluva big thump but never heard of any dammage. That's with cedar shakes over 1"x3" strapping and now ashphalt shingles over plywood.

The trusses and extra beams are in place, we are lucky we don't have those Canadian heavy falls[:)] Just as well, our glass and plastic conservatories would never stand up to the snow[;)]
More progress here, there sure is a lot more work in the roof construction then I would ever have thought.

Tomorrow will see the floor finished with concrete.

The roof is unable to handle my building capabilities!![:D]

My mate has just painted his garage floor, the only problem is he had to empty 15 years of collected stuff before he could do it. If you are thinking about it, I would do it while it is empty,

Seven.....

It's a job to see from the pics, but am I correct in thinking that you only have one pre-fabricated truss [a two-ply] in this roof?

Seven, It's coming along nicely. But I would prefer put a steel in and get rid of that pillar now, rather than at a later date.
You can then finish the Car Palace without any further mess and disruption [:)].
Not long now, nearly there [:D].

It will be staying for the time being but have left the top side open for the next step[;)]

The builders even took the liberty of smoothing the floor[:D]

Looks good to me. With the way the British weather is, this is such a good idea if you are planning a big job on a classic. If you have a day off work to do the car and it rains, it does not matter. You just shut the garage door and carry on.
And will probably add value to the house, which is a bonus.

Development on the garage extension has come to a grinding halt, most of the structure is done now, the door which was ordered close to 6 weeks ago has still not turned up[V] Time to get to the bottom of this tomorrow, can't see it being installed for Christmas[:(!] The two large radiators for the central heating also sit waiting to go in, could get these plumbed in but thought it would be pointless as the heat would go straight out the big opening[:0]
At least the Ruby is defrosting[:D]

Well Ruby looks to be less work than Var.

Or do the pictures deceive?
