PAINTING BUMPERS ???

can anyone advise me of the best way to colour up my bumpers plz. There appears to be some overspray on the front bumper - possibly grey primer - and I would like them to look " as new" if possible. I have thought of PLASTICOTE spray but wondered if anyone knows of anything more appropriate. Thanks John

Remove the overspray with a paint stripper.
(but first test it on the inside to make sure it doesn't damage the cover)

Guess the first question to Andy should be;

Are your bumpers orignal U.K. spec fiberglass covers, or are they the N-A soft versions???

Hi Ron,
Good question. As we are new to TR7's still, how can we tell ? they are the very think black ones with a very large weight in them at the front.

(And It's John not Andy - He has the Spitfire)

Zoe, just use the car & enjoy it. I have done 60,000 Km in my 7, with very little trouble, after I'd put her back on the road.

Even if I'd payed top dollar to a mechanic for all the servicing, & what repair work she’s required, since I put her back on the road I would still be in front, compared to the cost of running my wife’s bought new Mazda 2. The Mazda has required no repairs at all, in a similar distance to the 7, but the normal servicing costs of a car in warranty, & the depreciation far exceed the 7s costs.

That’s in Oz too, where depreciation is very low compared to over your way.

As you know, there are no guarantees in this life, so the best thing to do is cross your fingers, let go, & enjoy the ride-------- in a 7 of course.

yes they are Don.

Uk SPEC ( three piece hard fibreglass)

North American spec ( solid soft rubber texture)

North American rear cover is also one piece (again unlike the UK 3 piece unit) with the same soft rubber finish , but also had the extra bumper guards for the required extra crash protection ....
