Soft-top straps

Postby bmcecosse » 22 May 2008 07:34

Can anyone tell me how the two straps which join the tubes of the sof-top frame together, are fixed to the front retainer ? Mine appear to be crudely glued to the trim covering the front retainer and i would like to fix them correctly before fitting a new vinyl soft-top.

Ahh - mine seem to be just glued to the trim material covering the front header bar!! And there is no evidence of any rivet holes in the header bar. Certainly they are rivetted to the intermediate bars - and anchored at the rear with brackets. Think I will leave well alone - I don't need to disturb them to fit the new soft-top. And Mr Williams book conveniently doesn't mention this at all - in fact it's all too good at skipping past the difficult bits, and concentrating on the blindingly obvious bits!!
