Good morning all,

The drivers door on my '77 TR7 (UK) doesn't shut flush with the rear wing, the door sits proud by about 5mm. It does close and lock but looks as if it isn't shut properly.

Is there a way to adjust anything so that it is more flush?

I had the same problem with mine when I got it. It had been painted at some time. When I started to look at it took the door card off and found a metal shim lying in the bottom off the door refited it to the bottom hinge and door lined up and is now perfect.could be as simple as that.

Mike, are you talking about too high, or too far out?

I had a like problem. Two things I did to fix door droop and slight misalignment:
1. reset and adjust door striker plate
2. check the upper door hinge for play. If it is
slightly loose or has play, replace the hinge pins as
they may be worn.

The door striker plate is adjustable. Mark with a pencil where it is at present, then loosen the two star drive bolts and move it in towards the inside by the desired amount, then retighten.

I am talking about too far out. When closed, the door looks slightly ajar.

That is exactly what mine looked like. It was about 1/4" off, and looking like it was not shut properly. Adjusting the striker plate brought it back to flush with the rear wing.
