How do I reset the trip meter

Sorry for all the posts over the last couple of days. Boy, do I have a lot to learn!

As in the title, how do I reset the tripometer? I found, under the instrument panel a proutding knob but if I push it in and turn it, it changes the clock (which I needed to do anyway!).

So, how do I perform this major mechanical task?

Hi, Mike -

There should be two knobs under there, adjacent to each other. Maybe yours has come loose? Been removed?

Unless you have a late model Solihull built car, then there is a push button trip reset coming out of the face of the Speedo.

Yes Mike, as stated you should have another little knob under the dash, close to the clock adjuster, to reset the trip. Have a good look under there!

If it is not there then you can replace it, but the cable assembly is not available new & very hard to find in good used condition. You could try one of the TR7 specialists like Robsport or S&S.

Attaching it to the back of the speedo is a bit of a fiddly job too, you might be able to do it by reaching up from under the dash, failing that you would need to take the dash apart to get to the back of the instrument cluster from above.

Its a lot easier to replace if you take of the top cover. You don't really need to remove the insturments.
