Petrol Tank - what you all pi$$ing about at?

I know, it's been on here a few times lately.

I really do think you're all making a bloody meal out of removing it though. I took mine out today. Got the straps off fine without damaging them, and I didn't even bother with the two nuts method.

Anyway, as I said, I think you really do build this job up to be more than it is. Christ! I managed to get it out in one piece without even dropping the axle.

Come on guys - stop patting yourself on the back for a simple job.

Shaun, I am a bit worried about how much you have cut off to convert that car to a DHC.........

Hi,
If things go well then its not a terrible job fair enough but when studs seize in or break off ect ect then suddenly this can change into not such a great way of spending a day!! I always drop the top link off on one side myself but in you can do it without then well done you [;)].
We all have different skill levels, i have done head gaskets on our cars where all the studs have come straight out job done in a couple of hours a total peice of p155 BUT the next one total struggle [:(!] So IMHO lot of how easy a job is, is relative to your own personal skill level and how much the gods are on your side [;)]
Cheers John

Drop the top link?

What the hell for?

The thing literally falls out. And as for skill level . . well it didn't take much skill.

The donor car looks like something from Scrapheap Challenge!
I reckon you could drive that round town, plenty of room for the shopping. [:)]

Now thats a new way, leave the tank in place and take the car off from round it - I always thought all that jacking up and dropping the axle was the hard way round! Bit of a bugger welding it back together though.

Cheers
