Shock Absorber Mounting

Just spent a pleasant afternoon wrestling the petrol tank out of my dhc. It would have been a lot easier if I could have removed the LH side shock absorber. The manual says remove an access plate in the boot to get to the top mounting but the only access plate I have is for the RH petrol filler side. There appears to be a domed access under the carpet on the back shelf inside the car but before I start disturbing the trim can someone confirm if this is the way to go. Thanks.

Hi Mel,
That will be what you are after, undo the 3 pozi drive srews and seperate from the sealant type stuff, lift it off and there will be your shock top [:)]

Yes - it's under the carpet - one each side. The HBOL (Haynes Book of Lies) lives up to it's reputation! I found it essential to take both rear dampers off to get the tank out.
