Ok, you guys have been very helpful with my previous questions (thanks!) so I'll try again. The back of my TR7 has a chrome luggage rack that I'll probably remove. I'd like to put on a rear spoiler or perferably, a rear wing to make it more sporty looking.
For you guys that have rear spoilers, what donar car did yours come from? I've looked online at lots of pics and the low setting wing from what looks like a 1980's Firebird looks pretty good (I'm guessing that's where it came from, the owner has not responded to my email question) - anyone using one of those?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not thinking of putting one of those ricer aluminum wings on my TR7 unless I can find one that has 3 levels and sits up about 4 feet, then I could use it dry laundry .

Mines a pukka TR7 item available from Rimmers etc. It's great for hanging the extra brake light on.

When I bought my TR8, it had a spoiler on it. Looked pretty good, but I chose not to put it on when I did the restoration, and still have it. If you're looking to purchase one, let me know - I really have no need for it, and would like to see it used by someone who wants one.

Funny this topic was started today. I bid on a cheap spoiler a few weeks ago on eBay and it came in today.

I am still not convinced I like it yet, but I did not spend much, so if I don't like it, it might end up on ebay again.

Here are the pics. If I install it, I will have to drill wholes in the trunk. It will sit flush if / when it is installed.

while I'm not really into wings-n-things on my cars, I allways thought the adhesive backed rubber BMW rear spoilers (difusers?) were neat, and kind of invisible way to add a little something to the rear of a TR7.....

The only serious rust I have had in any TR7, has been in the boot
lid of two of them.

One had a spoiler, with leaking bolts.

The other had a luggage rack, with leaking bolts

It took quite a bit of effort to find the second mint replacement.

I'll do with either on my cars, thanks.

The one on my Grinnall aparently was purpose made but the popular original choices back in the eighties were the Rubber Triumph Acclaim spoiler.

Also i know the Peageot 405 spoiler fits very well with or without extra brake light built in

As previously pointed out i believe Rimmer have at least one spoiler that again has been purpose made as an aftermarket item for the 7

No-one has mentioned the extra weight.. I had one on a later gas strut bootlid car and the struts did not cope with the extra weight. I had a spare (new) strut and replaced one (should have replaced 2 of course) but it didn't make much difference.

It's not the end of the world hoisting up the boot manually of course, if you've had earlier TR7/8 your already used to that!

I would whole heartedly agree with Croydebay, the extra weight does create issues with the gas struts, especially if they are already marginal. When I bought my 7 several years ago the struts were already useless, I took the decision then to put on the early boot stay instead of replacing the gas ones. The result is that, although the boot lid is heavier than before, the stay will still support it.

Would be a rare find nowadays,but the boot spoiler of Austin Montego Turbo (and the later MG EFI models) fits exactly, will have a look on google later to see if i can find any images

I am not one for going for originality but TR7 is such is unique car that I am not sure if it needs custom accents to be set apart from the herd.

Plus, I haven't seen any spoilers that I was crazy about.

However, that pukka spoiler does look nice!
