Brakes are gonna be my undoing!! Any options for?

Brakes are gonna be my undoing!! Any options for?

OK I replaced the rear cylinders, brake rubber lines, rebuilt calipers and tried to rebuild the master. Unfortunately the master cylinder rebuild kit had poor quality seals and do not fit properly in the cylinder. So I ask, is there a master cylinder other than the over priced origional unit that I might be able to find locally?

And to top it off, I figured out why it has been running so poorly lately. The booster is shot. When I blocked off the vacuum line it smoothed right out and ran perfect. So any other options for that?

Maybe somebody has a set of used units they'd sell me cheap.

That is not an option. We had sort of a falling out/misunderstanding about rust a few years ago. Nobody else has had any problems that I am aware of with him, but he did me wrong, so I wont smear his name, but I also wont use him either for anything.

Oh and I seem to have lost that one way valve somehow. Could that be the problem with the booster? Because I have 2 boosters here doing the same thing.

Could be the problem. If you don't want to talk further to Woody, you might want to try Erick Van Sickle, Leyland English Auto Repair, in Keenebunkport, ME [207-967-2504]. He knows TR-7's quite well and has a lot of used parts in stock. He doesn't do junk either.

Just another thought. You might not have lousy seals, but you might have a pitted master cylinder body that is leaking out pressure. Not every cylinder can be rebuilt successfully.

NO, the rear seal was so big I couldnt get it in the master cylinder. Not only that, the whole kit was only 4 seals, 3 of the front ones and 1 of the rear. No matter where I put that one seal, it would not fit in the master cylinder. Maybe the kit was shorted the correct seal and I have been trying to use the wrong one, but for $20 I certainly got ripped for 4 little seals and one that didnt work.

Who did you get your seals from? British Parts Northwest carries two types, Brand X and TRW. I got the TRW one for a few bucks more ($18). I've read the Brand X types are not worth the few bucks you save. I've yet to put them in but will in the next few weeks. Some kits fit more than one type of master cylinder so you don't use all the parts.

Yeah, I got the cheap one. It wasnt that it had more seals than I needed, it didnt have enough, and the ones that were there didnt fit. So you say the TRW works. I will have to call BPNW tomorrow.

OK I found the one way valve. It still seems to have the vacuum leak. I couldnt test run it too long, the wife is sleeping. I will know more tomorrow.

I shot off an email to BPNW about the quality of the rebuild kit. Lets see what happens.
