100,000 miles !

A milestone in automotive history!allright,allright,maybe not.But i bought this Wedge with 80 grand showing on the clock 4 years ago.I'm the tenth owner and this car does'nt have alot of paper history,so i dunno if its been clocked in the past.What i do know is that i must be the only bu663r that spent any money on it!Every panel was dented or rusty,so its had repairs,panels,paint along the way.If you do the maths i do about 5000 miles a year in it,most in awe of how good this 'old banger'really is.Its only really let me down once,when i did the head gasket recently,and that was only me being cautious so as not to cook it in future.The Wedge really is a much missunderstood car.Dont believe the hype,this motor is very capable and if looked after a pleasure to own an'drive.Long live the WEDGE! Pull the choke out a bit Paul, yer tickover's too low!!! And what is that voltmeter doing??? It should be about half a millimeter higher than that!!!

But at least the temperature gauge is spot on. Must be down to that fella who did the head gasket job recently!

ah! but is the clock telling the right time, surely that would be more of a milestone [:D]

The convertible I just bought from Jim Johnson has just gone round the clock it has now done 240 miles.

Guy's,pleeeze!The clock runs,but its fast by about five mins per hour.I just cant be bothered to take dash apart to adjust it.John,you pedant!The photo was taken with the trans in drive and my foot on the brake!It ticks over between 8-9.The fuel guage must be faulty coz the one in the 'Green Monster'moves a lot quicker!Tony,i have indeed lost my legs from time to time on that'scrumpy'!Finally,Chris,what'ya you doin with another dhc?I thought you'd weened yourself off'em after selling DWR!Guess the MX5 will have to wait!

Hi Paul my partners car,X reg, has done 119000 now and running really well, she is the sixth owner the car has had a lot of money spent on it though not only by us but the previous owners as well.
Unfortunatly I don't know how to put a photo on here so we can't show it off!!!![:D]

Congratulations on the great milestone. I know this doesn't really belong hear but I got to tell some one about my 96 Dodge Caravan (yes a van), I just did my 5000km oil change at 700000kms. Same engine, second tranny and a little susp. work. All miles are ours. I'm a firm believer of clean oil and luck.

Was that 1:24 am or pm? My clock works as well and keeps pretty good time. Don't know what all these guys are talking about.[:)]

I have read of two TR7's that have gone 195,000 to 198,000 miles on engine and transmission. I wonder what is the highest milage car with original engine nad transmission on this forum. I know it's not mine at 85,000 miles but it does have original paint and top (top's like new but paint has the inevitable little stone chips on front.)

My Spider now has 106,000 miles and I use it as regularly for work assignment, as well as pleasure, as often as possible. I agree that the TR-7's 4-cylinder - at least in its later guise - is a great engine. The Rover 5-speed is a tough transmission [used on the Rover 3500 and the Land Rover Discovery] and the Salisbury rear end is very rugged.

My clock will only work in several hour spurts and then it stops, exhausted. Once I scrape the positive battery wire across the terminal, the clock starts up again. Right now, only the gas gauge doesn't work - it appears to be the sender unit.

My TR7V8 had 68,000 miles on the clock when i brought it and is now showing 170,000 miles. That's 102,000 miles in 19 years.[:)]
Has original rear axle with new crown wheel and pinion.
The original gearbox was changed at 120,000 miles only because the gears were noisy.
Have just purchased a digital camera, so hope to post some pictures in the future.
