Hopefully this helps......

Is the coil 6V or 12V?

12 volts

In that case you have to bypass the ballast wire in the loom, otherwise you'll only get 6V at the coil

It was the Lumenition ignition system on my 7 that gave me my worst headache in my 17 years with the car.
It would become very mildly hesitant on small throttle openings in the first 3 or 4 kilometres of a drive. It would never show a fault by the time I got to town, & a good auto electrician. I could not decide if it was a fuel or ignition problem.
Each time I cleaned everything, replaced wires, changed from bayonet fittings to ring end fittings bolted tight or any other attempt to find the fault it would be fine for a few months, then revert.
It was only when it went to cutting the engine for a second or so that we found the fault.
Hope you don't have such a problem.

I had this on my V8, however, it caused many a headache. In the end I sent it back, they said it was fine but it clearly was not as I replaced it with a Powerspark distributor and the car has never run better!

I have been using Bosch 6V coils for as long as I drive my TR7's (since 1988), never had any problems
How did you measure the voltage @ the coil?
