New front Brakes Wilwood?? TR7V8

Now I run 2 "Classic" triumphs.
My Tr7 V8 and a Triumph Stag as my daily driver ( covered 12k in 2 years) The brakes on the Stag are a little wooden (TR8 Calipers I believe) so I'm thinking of fitting a MUCH Improved set up to My TR7 V8 and transferring the Princess 4 pots and DS2500 Ferodos from the Tr7 to the Stag. I have a Sherpa booster servo in the Tr7 I run 13" Wolfies as my wheels so am assuming that they might have to go as the bigger calipers in an upgrade kit may well bash them somewhat.
Is the Wilwood a good option...does it actually work..
Please advise

I just reasently scored a 2nd hand Wilwood setup on fleabay, I'm yet to pick it up as it's @ 300km away, it's in my home town so I'll be going there anyway sooner or later.

After an enjoyable fast trip down the Stelvio pass 18 months back my 7 ended up with warped plain TR8 front discs. Subsequently I replaced the Mintex pads with EBC TR8 dimpled slotted discs and Yellow stuff pads which combined with the existing Princess calipers improved the from acceptable to very good.

There are better and cheaper options;
To start with not all Wilwood callipers are road legal, so check before you buy;
I am using a Ford based set up with vented discs for ages now (M16 callipers with Capri discs).
Pretty good brake performance and they do fit inside 13"alloys. And parts are easily available!

I don't know anyone with the Wilwood set up so can't comment on it, looks good though.
My Ford Capri front brakes were inside 13 inch steel wheels until I bought some compomotive 14 inch Alloys. They needed some thin spacers to clear the steelies but still needed a slight filing of the callipers at a couple of points. No issue with the Alloys
Adding the updated servo / master cylinder stops the long pedal travel you get with the bigger brakes. With braided hoses, my pedal hardly moves at all. I've used green stuff pads for years and find they work well with the vented Capri discs. I've sourced replacement discs from EBC twice over the years and they've been issue free. They cope well with the mildly tuned V8, no brake fade on the road. I've yet to take it on a track day. Might need bigger brakes for that.......

I run the Princess 4 pots with Toyota Supra vented discs and the uprated servo/master cylinder.
The Supra discs are slightly bigger diameter that the Capri ones so the pads don't overlap the edge. Relatively cheap and works very well.

I have Volvo 4 pot on the front of the 8 complete with discs.
The back has the single pot system that came with the Nissan Skyline limited slip dif. Surprisingly with this mix of components they balance perfectly, & needed no attention to the distribution valve.

They are Toyota Supra 2.8, 1982-1986. 258mm diameter and 20mm thick.

I too am thinking of replacing my front original breaks. I have new 15 inch mfg wheels and was looking at buying the kit from Robsoort.

I've picked up my Wilwood brakes after a 954km round trip, (I laugh when some of you blokes think a 100km trip is too far for parts) mind you the trip was about 120km longer than it needed to be after I got there and realised that I'd left my wallet back where I was staying and had to make a mad dash back to get it.
They came complete with the full strut assembly, including V8 springs Gaz strut inserts, drilled & slotted discs, hubs etc.
While I was there, I saw he had a set of MGF VVC wheels with Nitto competition semi slick tyres so I made an offer and dragged them home too, might come in handy for a bit of track hooning with either my MGF or TR7.
He's building up a TR7 V8 (it was away getting painted) and had another 2 he's wrecking for parts (one of which was the doner of my parts)
He also had other interesting stuff about the place including various Datsun 240/260Zs, Mazda RX7s (early) and a 60's Plymouth Barracuda (bare metal resto)
I'm going to send him a link to the site, which brings me to a question:
Is the site still closed to new members? (after the spam attacks) if so how do we get a new member in?
This bloke would be an asset to the forum as he seems to know his stuff, mind you he should considering he's a mechanic.
