Acceleration Rattle (Solved)

Hi; I was wondering if anyone would know what would cause a rather loud rattle when accelerating from stop. It only occurs during a low speed acceleration and disappears while driving, it also intermittantly occurs during low speed deceleration. Sound seems to come from underneath passenger seat.
Thanks

Not exactly the same but a thought. I had a rattle coming from the car at low speeds on rougher roads but it was intermittent , it seemed to come from the left hand side but that's the drivers side so I couldn't be sure. Also seemed more pronounced if there was something to bounce the sound back like bushes or cement pilon (which makes sense). Turned out that it was a nut and washer from the cat cage had come off (I guess I didn't tighten it enough when I was last working on that. It was sitting on the cat cage and with right frequency would rattle. I would check exhaust fastenings as sound can bounce and it's easy to be misdirected.

+1 on the exhaust.
The original gearstick remote housing bushes disintegrate with age. The housing can move around and drop on to the rotating propshaft underneath. If the gearstick can be moved up and down the bushes will need replacing.
The perceived direction of noises can be misleading at times. I chased the cause of a vibration from the rear end for months. Replacing a slightly rough front wheel bearing cured it.
Hope this helps

Hi;
I finally had a chance to get under her today to have a look. I checked the exhaust and the gear shifter everything seemed tight; except the drive shaft, there was a little play in it and since I just so happen to have a spare one I changed it. Rattle now gone. However the drive shaft I had was different than the one on the car. I removed the spare from a tr7 that I thought was the same year (1980 DHC). Top one in picture it looks like it has some sort of vibration damping whereas the spare looks like conventional universal joints. Anyone know which one is older?
Next rattle is the steering column anyone got quick (and easy) fix for replacing the firewall bushing......

Top one looks standard with CV joints. Not sure about the bottom one, looks like its made up with standard UJ's.
