Has anyone explored the option of replacing existing fuel cap with Aero Style cap?

Yes, but not yet fittted, as it needs extensive modifications underneath the filler deck

My car currently has a stainless steel fuel cap from an old outboard motor fuel tank!

Theo,
Do you have part number at all
I assume the filler neck will have to be raised?

First you would have determine if you have a sealed or unsealed fuel tank system. They take different fuel caps. N/A got a sealed system as part of their emissions package. Europe got unsealed. I'm under the impression that Australia might have got either/or depending. If you modified your emissions you may have gone from a sealed to unsealed inadvertently.

The filler neck will be deleted together with the steel bits supporting it.
Than the remaining slightly recessed part of the rear deck needs some adapting to accommodate the holes for the filler cap mounting bolts.
These bolts also mount a connecting neck that needs to be fitted underneath the filler cap to attach the filler hose to, which is fitted between tank and filler cap.
You'll need a cap from the Aero 400 series from https://www.newton-equipment.com/index.html together with a matching connecting neck .

That's a good call from FI Spyder. The cap shown is non vented.
This will in my case (hopefully one day) be solved by a one way valve fitted to the tanks vent pipe.

I have put one on my V8, did it a couple of years ago no problems with it and it looks really good.
I purchased mine from Rally Designs.
Cheers
