Probably just needs the timing reset. When you fit the electronic stuff it shifts the trigger point compared to the points. Just get a strobe, clip the sensor to No1 lead and adjust the distributor so the pointer on the crankshaft pulley is around 10deg BTDC from memory. Worked fine on my Pertronix system.
