I wonder if anyone else has had this problem: The lower hinge pin has sheared around the top splined mounting, leaving the top of the whole hinge assembly flopping around. I have removed the "door side" part of the hinge, leaving just the "a-pillar side" in situ. The remnants of the pin are firmly seized in the door-side part of the hinge, with the top sheared off.
Getting the old pin out is proving a nightmare. I can't drill it out as the top hinge fouls the drill and makes for a cut at the wrong angle. I have a spare entire hinge but the original is welded in around the inner and outer A-posts, and I can't get the grinder in to the outer as it won't fit without removing the front wing (which I just welded on - shoulda' checked first, I guess!).
Any ideas for getting at seized lower hinge pin out?
Thanks all (photos to follow)
