So..I'm about to go out and check my brakes etc and I clean the carb filter and just rest my elbow on the Lockheed master reservoir and crack...look down and its all spidery and useless...Now I'm assuming that these are unavailable as a new part...I don't have to buy a complete Master Cylinder unit do I £300!!! Surely not...I know thet said that you needed a sense of humour but ....
Any advice

Quite a lot of other cars used the same basic cylinder so you should be able to find a reservoir to get you out of trouble but you may not get the "wedge" shaped one - sorry, pun obviously intended.
Most of the alternatives have a flat shaped reservoir but they will fit OK, and you can find them on Rover SD1, Transit vans, MGB's etc etc

I have a new reservoir that I removed from an uprated servo I bought from S & S several years ago, you are welcome to.

Hi Brian,
PM me your email address and I will forward some pictures as it is not identical to the TR7/8 one.
Andy.

Think I still have this alternative reservoir in the garage as well if you get stuck. It came on this uprated servo M/C but I swapped to the TR7 wedge shaped one.

I cracked my master cylinder reservoir last year, and searched in vain for a new replacement. It is strange that you can buy a master cylinder with the reservoir, but not the reservoir by itself? Doing some checking, I found that MGB reservoirs are cheap, available, and bolt right on, but have a couple of issues.
1)It lacks the wedge shape, and thus has less capacity.
2)It mounts "backwards" putting the filler cap a bit lower, I solved this by sealing the cap and drilling a hole in the top of the other end, and carefully fitting a tight rubber plug. My car isn't accessible in the winter, but I will post some pictures this spring if I remember.
I hope this helps, JL
