TR7 Door Seals

Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

I went to collect a set of fhc door seals today from Tony. A great bloke who picked me up from the station and dropped me back.

Took the set home and fitted them to my car, they look great. So glad with the fit and the corner join is fantstic, they look so professional. I am please with the finish and thankful for getting a pair considering new ones are virtually impossible to getthese days. I only wish I had brought two pairs now, one for spare, incase I need some later down the line.

Now with good seals I can see that my door needs to be fitted better at the top Lol. Not too surpised as I fitted the doors myself in a rush. At least the new door seals is one more job of the list.

If you need some door seals I would recommend these. Yes, the p&p may be a bit, but combine it and the cost will come down. Thanks Tony for sourcing these.

Sure not a problem.

The only problem when using the flash is that it highlights that the car needs a good wash lol.

The door cards are currently off and the centre console is out, but if you look past that you can see the seals are a good fit. The old ones I had had a 4 inch gap at the top and were joined together with staples, bey these new ones are a vast improvement:

Phill, glad that we could fill a spot with a quality product. Great meeting up with fellow TR7 enthusiast. I don't think you will need a second set for a long time, however there are a few set left.

All,
I purchased a set for my FHC on Sunday evening. Greeted by parcel delivery on way out the door this morning (Tuesday). Haven't fitted yet but quality and overall product looks great.

Also had a friendly phone discussion with Tony this afternoon and clarified the design of the corner vulcanised joint on the FHC version which includes a small non vulcanised section to allow the seal to "breath" when the seal is compressed between body and door. At first glance this may appear to be a flaw, but it is a functional part of the design and similar to the inclusion of ventilation/breather holes along the surface of many modern car seals.

The non vulcanised breather section (about 1/4" or 6mm) is located on the inner (body) side of the seal and completely out of sight once fitted. Refer close-up pictures of the vulcanised corner joint in Phil's earlier post.

Thanks Tony, a good product and certainly provides a more effective solution than adapting and joining a generic seal product. Rgds, Daryl M

Daryl, Cheers for the thumbs up on the seals and good to see Aust Post are on the ball.
Look forward to your email on those other couple of items we spoke about.
By the way pulled the plate off the back off the engine just to confirm that a new plug was put back in by engine builder.
Getting ready to reattach gearbox, than replacement driveshaft.
No Bl**dY wonder I am broke.
Anyway, thank again guys for the great feedback.

Not to the UK, but three sets are in transit to my address in the NL, they arrived in Amsterdam the day before yesterday.
Hopefully they will arrive at my place by the weekend. I know not very helpful ...
