Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

WOW! Tr8,

I like that! Good work! Too bad the FHC wasn't designed like that.

Where did you get the white faced gauges?

Fiat 2000s had a side window that went up and down with the top.

I made the white faced gauges. That was another BIG project...took a couple of years fiddling with it and I'm still not 100% satisfied to the point I would do it for others.
The side windows will be made out of plexiglas and have a metal frame to back them up attached to the metal hardtop.

I will be very interested to see the finished hardtop, did you cut the roof of a coupe to start with?
If you do decide to make some more white faced dials please let me know as I would be interested in a set.[8D]

Retirement is terrific. I started the hardtop project in 2003, before I retired, but unfortunately haven't worked on it for a couple of years. Other projects and cars just seem to get in the way, like the pedal car the first coupe and now the second coupe and the race car.

Oh well, could be much worse.

Tr8,

PS, the bumpers off the Sunbird will fit the TR7.

jclay, what year(s) of Sunbird would that be? Both front and back bumpers would fit? I'm assuming that back bumper is both the actual black rubber portion plus the valence below - all one piece is it not?

I might pick it up from local wrecker (everything dirt cheap) just to see what it (they?) would look like in a mockup. Curious.

The hardtop was narrowed two or three inches to fit the TR8, so the bumper is probably too wide also.

I heard about it from a guy in Florida, but he used ones of a Chevy Corsica. I have seen only one photo of a TR7 fitted with these bumpers.

It look acceptable.

After looking at every different hardtop made for TR7/8s and reading every book published on them...I found a perfect sollution to the weird shape of the convertible side windows...and it was once "on the drawing boards".
